I found this piece of sandstone at the lease in Webb Co. It's apparent that the sandstone is filled with some sort of snails and bivalves, clams, etc. I'm assuming that this was a water bottom at some point and hard to imagine this when we're at 450+ ft above sea level.

We find all kinds of fossils here and we're at 2100 ft.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

Most likely of Cretaceous age. About 70 million to 100 million years ago a lot of the world and most of the U.S. were covered by shallows seas. That's why you can find sea and fresh water fossils like crinoids and bivalves up in the Rocky Mountains. The end of the Cretaceous Age was marked by the mass extinction of many species, including the dinosaurs. Sorry...my inner geologist was dying to get out!
