Just got back from a 4 week out-of-town school near San Antonio. Turns out the place has a large number of free range Axis. I was told if I wanted to hunt to bring a rifle. Shot an Axis doe shortly after arriving and got it dropped off at the processor. Picked up a few steaks the week prior to leaving and cooked them on the grill. WOW!!! Never thought venison could taste like that!!!
Talked to the guy running the school the next day. He said to shoot another if I wanted! Next morning I took another to the processor.
If you've never tried it- YOU NEED TO- but you can't have any of mine!! Already have a few good friends wanting to try it.
Told the guy at the school I may have to make annual trips down there.
