Now correct me if I'm wrong but the pressures of the 257 wby are pretty high for an encore... like dangerously high.. thats why TC themselves wont make one, Bull berry also wont make one, in fact the only one I've ever heard of making one is the MGM one posted above.
The spring back and the hinge pin wont allow the true performance of this cartridge to shine.
I feel you may have to load it down to get the accuracy you want.. and in that case your better off buying a quarter bore in something else...25-06, 256 win mag,... If you want to stay in an ENCORE.
That Match grade Machine barrel is 395 bucks.... You are better off buying a 257 WBY in the Vanguard for the same price and have the entire rifle that will handle the pressures associated with this round. If you want a 257 WBY.
Just my .02, but before you go off the deep end and buy a 400 dollar barrel you might want to educate yourself in Encores and why the frame/platform isnt really made for extreme pressures.

I've owned a 257wby encore, and currently own 25-06. Both Built by eabco. The frame is fine, and has no problem with the FACTORY pressure. Hand load above you get issues. My buddy has it now and he has well over 300 rounds with zero issues. I still kick myself for selling it The encore has signifanct advantages when it comes to over all length. You can have a 26" barrel and overall rifle length is still over 4" shorter then a vangaurd.

Hmm... Ive always heard it was a bad idea... Definitely the 257 wby is the perfect candidate for hand loading as factory loads are jaw droppingly expensive... to my knowledge the pressures and related issues are why tc and others wont make barrels for it.
Who made the barrel you had?

Eabco, he made both my 257wby that I sold and my current 25-06
His exact words as long as you use factory ammo you will be fine

Who made the barrel you had? Weatherby makes a 100gr soft point that you can buy for $35.99 from Midwayusa.com and Hornady has started loading .257wby also. and you can always sell the once fired brass for $15 abox so its not that bad. If you reload....a necksizing die and annealing the cases will extend your brass life 3-4x

Hornadys 110 accubond is 130fps slower than weatherby's at the muzzle. But hornady's IS quite a bit cheaper... However, if you are looking into a 257 wby be ready to spend some coin on ammo, as hornady's is still quite a bit pricier than the 270 setting on the shelf at wm.

I got a 22.250-.243-.270-.300 Just wanting to fill the gap between .243 and .270. Always wanted a .257 just don't like the guns they are offered in. Besides the Remmy CDL. But I really like Winchester m70. Might do it off a custom action based off a Winchester

There is a guy in Argyle that's suppose to be good but I havent seen any of his work

S&S precision is the one in Argile and several have reported being very happy with builds and other work from them.
titian arms (theBBC on the forum) builds some great looking and shooting guns as well.
lf the saying "Liar, Liar your pants on fire" were true Mainstream news might be fun to watch
