No shame in that man. It's an unfortunate by-product of being one of the brave who had the courage to put themselves in harms way for the freedoms many of us take for granted. Hope your hunt was successful. THANK YOU

Definitely Not a Coward. It takes courage to admit your feeling in a open froum.
I did 3 tours in Iraq and 2 in Afghanistan. I came home in 2010 and was medically retired in Mar 2011. I guess we have seen the worst that man kind has to offer.
It's hard to readjust to life at home. We all lost something, some part of us. I just hope that I will find it again.
I hope we all find it...

Sir there is a time in our life where we have to put the past behind us, how and when we do it is up to you. We can't blame ourselves for the the memories we carry but we do have to deal with them and we can't let them consume us there is life after war. Heal yourself!

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

Take some time, collect your thoughts and regain your footing. There's nothing wrong with taking a knee after something like that.

I am an OIF 5/6, and ISAF 11/12 veteran. After Iraq, I came back to Hawaii in October of 2007, and I had to retire to my bedroom on New Years eve early because of the concussion from the fireworks.

Everyone has their triggers, and none are set like a combat vet's.

Korea is nothing like Germany, and no amount of Army Modernization propaganda will convince me otherwise. I miss my wife and kids something fierce

that's not being a coward. i still jump and get goose bumps at times and I've been out of the military for over 15yrs now.

we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

The sadistic part of me reading this wonders if there would have ever been a post stating yes?

I'm not trying to say he was, but it was just a random thought.

I wouldn't say it was cowardly but this got me thinking.

Is there such a thing as a war hardend demeanor? Unflinching? Has anyone ever seen that? If it exists, it must be rare, right?

Yes there are those that are completely devoid of reaction, unflinching as you say, I've seen a few from the Vietnam era, they didn't have fear of really anything. Then again the had only the very basic level of coherence.

You should NEVER feel like a coward, you aren't one! Thank you for your service! IMO, there is something wrong with a person that doesn't have a similar reaction to that situation.

PTSD and TBI make physical changes to your brain. It is not a matter of just going John Wayne and healing thyself.

That's what I am thinking, it's not like the muskets and weapons of yesteryear.

Dude, you are not a coward. You have some issues to work through, keep your head up, do the best you can and get some help.

I didn't learn this by seeing it on TV, I learned it by doing it.
