Shot this Tom over the weekend.

His fan coloring and pattern look very different from the normal Rios I have seen in the past, like this jake.

The tom is sopping wet from dew so that may darken him up some, but look how dark his tail tips are and how little tan there is in the feathers at the base of his fan.

Do yall think this is unusual? Do turkey's coloring change from year to year or as they age?

Turkey's coloring can vary from bird to bird. Some you shoot will be almost white where others are tan. Some the black at the tips of the tailfan where occasionally you might shoot one with the middle 3 feathers wont have but a tiny black line or maybe no black line thru them. Not sure why this is but its one of the things I love to look at when multiple birds come in.

OMG, this is the best slumber party ever!
