I was leaving my land on Saturday and saw this two does standing in the county road next to a HF ranch. I followed them for over a mile and recorded them trying to get through/over the HF. They never did realize they could just run back across the county road and get away. I thought this was comical but I backed off after they started bloodying their faces up.

I see 4-5 deer a year that hang themselves trying to jump a high fence.

I have seen them do the same thing before by my place when yeah all they had to do was go across the road where it wasn't a high fence place.

I see 4-5 deer a year that hang themselves trying to jump a high fence. That's why I backed off and let them go, I didn't want to see one of them get caught up.

West of Kerrville on HWY 39 there are high fences on either side of the road that run for miles. Sometimes deer get caught in the middle with nowhere to go. I've watched them run until they were plum tuckered out. It is a lot safer driving at night though than before the high fences.
Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it.

I have to wear sunglasses into the woods, because the deer would recognize me, an just surrender with their hooves up.

I would have stopped after the first few yards of them not going across the road instead of continued driving.

Neat video and good job backing off when you did  A long time ago, I saw a young buck that just jumped the fence in front of me on the left. I knew he wanted across the road on the right. So I sped up and was racing/chasing him down the left side of the road wondering what the heck will he do, try & cross or just hop the fence back on the left? Well he finally made his break and bolted in front of me, I had to hit the brakes or hit him. He was so tired when he tried to jump the fence, he didn't make it, got back up and jumped over. Us guys thought it was cool & funny at first, then we felt like the Morons that we were. Won't do that again!!!!
