I did some trading for this old H&A mainly to be a wall hanger. The head spacing feels tight. It has the appearance of needing to be tighter. Who can do this? OR can it be done?

Putting a double back on face involves a bit of work, and it does'nt come at a cheap price. I can do it, but if the gun is going to just be a decorative piece...

Im not going to shoot it much at all. Its mainly for decoration, but a functioning piece for "just in case" measures. Its old enough it has no numbers. The more I look at it the more I think it has Damascus barrels. If this is the case I d be afraid to fire with modern loads unless they have been lightened up a bit

It closes tightly on paper, not tight enough to tear it. I cant find good details about it online

Check the lock-up with the forend off. A lot of hacks peen the forend metal to put pressure against the action knuckle. This is a quick fix to tighten up a double, and a lot of people do it to sell. The end result wont keep it tight for long.

Tried this. Had minimal slack. Closed it on paper and was still tight but not enough to tear paper. The guys at cabellas in the gun library said it was probably built around 1902.

By all means Ill not shoot modern loads through if and when I decide to shoot it. I may get some less than lethal rounds for strays. If I had to shoot actual shot loads Id probably find some one that hand loads and have them lighten it up
