Hello,
I need to purchase a rifle scope for this gun,
Browning M1000 Eclipse in the .300 Win Mag
I will use this gun mostly Elk Hunting in Colorado and target shooting for fun.
$700-$900 range.
Thanks for the help.

I spent less than that for my Nikon Monarch for my Remington 700 .308 and I love the scope. I have used it during low light situations and could see perfectly. I have done target shooting out in the 500 yard to 800 yard range and the picture is clear. I spent $1100 for a Leupold Mark 4 LR/T 4.5-14x50mm and the only thing that I like better about the Leupold is the turrets for dialing in the distance. The Monarch has been a great scope and I would purchase again for sure. I would say the same about the Leupold though as well. It just depends on what you are looking for in options.

All ready

Do you like to dial or use a reticle past MPBR? Im a dial guy, I have no use for fancy or complicated reticles if I am shooting past a calibers MPBR. Give me a good quality standard duplex reticle, a quality rangefinder, and my laminated cheat sheet taped to my stock and its game on. I don't do mil/mil, dots , hash marks and all that good stuff , just cant get into all that and like to keep things simple. Range, dial, shoot!

Trijicon Accupoint or Leupold VX-R. I am a fan of the illuminating reticle, especially in low light situations.

In Colorado, low light is going to be like the devil, you biggest adversary. You are going to need something that preforms flawless in all light conditions and have engough adjustment internally for some long range, because you will find that nice big bulls are always a ling ways off, unless you have a good guide and he knows how to call and you mind the gap off his calling abilities. Now another thing that stinks is, you cannot use an illuminated reticle in Colorado. For some reason it is illegal. But we still have some options I think would be suitable for what you would like to use it for. My first choice would be the Vortex Viper HS. Specifically: http://swfa.com/Vortex-6-24x50-Viper-HS-30mm-Rifle-Scope-P51720.aspxThere is quite a bit of internal travel. It's FFP, which is great for hunting and target. Overall just a great scope. Second choice would be Zeiss' new HD5. http://swfa.com/Zeiss-3-15x42-Conquest-HD5-Rifle-Scope-P60842.aspxOptically it is fantastic. With the reticle, hold overs are easily accomplishable. I know the Zeiss is a little higher than you budgeted for, but its something I would consider strongly for a just a couple more bucks. I love the Swarovski Z3 line, but I'm just not sure if the magnification would be adequate for you at longer ranges. Good luck, there's nothing like Colorado in September!

That Vortex is the exact scope I'm going to put on a Colorado mountain elk rifle. Obviously it has all the bells and whistles to shoot distance, and Vortex has outstanding clarity, but note the weight (or lack of) for that scope.
Ounces equal pounds, pounds equal pain.

Jason you would really like this one. I saw one for the first time last week.
It's very well put together.

I hate to tell you this, but....you will not be able to use it, because of the ability to illuminate the reticle.
I found out the hard way.
Funny game wardens up there, had to overnight another rifle for Saturday delivery($$$$) But the hunt was good.

I don't know what I'm going to do now. Mil/ Mil, FFP, equal or above 20X, great glass, and the low weight of it had my mind made up. I need that very scope without illumination.
Stupid Colorado laws! Maybe we can hunt Wyoming or Montana.

You can use that, but the lack of side focus makes it difficult to correct for paralax.
