No high fence ranches nearby that I know of. I'm surrounded by thousands of acres of farm land. Elk? For reference, I'm 6'4" and when I stand under the feeder the control box is at eye level.

Where abouts in Bryan College Station area? I'm from there as well and depending on where you are at I can tell you who may be around. I have seen several red deer and elk cows out by the airport while running a job at TAMU Nuclear Science building behind the runways.

You can kiss that feeder goodbye I fear sometime really soon. Appears someone had enough rain to wash a watergap or some fence out in the area.

What is the law on taking one? I heard if the animal had a ear tag or some other identification, you had to get the owners permission before shooting it. It that true? The new place we are moving is close to a HF ranch that has Oryx. We were discussing what we could do if one escaped and came on to our place.

Nice surprise. Ive been on my lease in Comanche for 8 years and still have not seen an exotic. One guy had an Axis come in one day and didn't know what it was so he didnt shoot it. Seen some free range blackbuck a few miles from our place, but nothing on property.

Yes, where I hunt there are some elk but we try to keep them separate from the whitetail. A bull got to the other side one time and found the feeders. He lost patience and didn't like to wait for the corn to throw. When he was done with the feeders, they looked like a truck had hit them.....going 80MPH.....and then backed over them again.

Wow! I would have never thought that you would see elk down there.

There was a law passed back in the late 90's I believe. Might want to check into it. I know it has a time period on days they have escaped attached to it so you might check with the GW in your area.

I would start hunting it NOW! that is a non-indigenous species, thus like shooting a feral hog.....no season.

looks like an older red stag to me, he may be in decline. His neck line is sagging, and his brisket hangs as well. Typically when they have the main beam with nubs instead of what used to be tines, they are not getting the nutrition they need to support antler development. Compared to the one in the background with distinguishable tines, this one has had the bulk of his days behind him. He's a shooter in my book.

There's been Elk known to roam the southwest side of College Station for years now....particularly south and southwest of the air port. They were there when I was at A&M...2006-2010.

Where they came from I don't have a clue....but I saw them myself in a neighborhood.
