Hello everyone. I have just moved to Ft. Hood from Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. I am an avid fisher and hunter looking for an opportunity to hunt on private property. I am looking for a landowner willing to afford me the opportunity to hunt turkey, deer, rabbit, squirrel, hog, or anything else that's legal. I would love to opportunity to meet anyone willing to help out and give them more information about my personal background. I'd love to get hunting soon, but will be deploying in July. Pending my return, the hunts would resume. Let me know and I look forward to Texas hunting.
Thanks, Justin

Welcome to the area. hood is a decent place to hunt, but they want an arm n half a leg for permits n license. Stay safe across the pond. Do u know the fob yaw r gonna be at in afghanistan or kuwait? Dependin on contract change over on hood, im planin on goin back again.

If you need to scratch the hunting itch before deploying Eagle Lake Exotics has Cull Hunts for $800(Axis available now) and hog hunts for $100. If you have a family you might want to stock the freezer.

I think a hood permit is only $60-70 for soldiers , the telecheck system kinda sucks they only have certain areas open depending on what day it is, but its better than nothing.

Nothing yet. I stopped in at the Sportsmen Center on post and talked about the fees and such. I agree its pricey, but if thats the only place I have to work with my options are limited. I'm shocked at the minimal federal/state land TX has for hunting. Kinda bummed about that. Dropping 2-3K on a land lease seems high too. Might as well spend that to get a guided tour somewhere and get myself a trophy. I'm just looking for someone to share some land. Very willing to do some work on a farm or something to not only prove my worth, but compensate the land owner with something other than cash.

Welcome to the forum. THANK YOU FOR YOU SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY. I suggest you post in the outfitters thread. Give some background like you did here, and offer to volunteer to do work like filling feeders, fixing fences etc... like you posted here, and I'm certain you will get some good people to help you out.

There is a lot of state n federal land in tx, but dependin on the season, the game, depends on weapons allowed. Aint much in this area, but east tx is riddled with state/fed land. Ne tx, wright patman lake is a 4.5-5hr drive from here, got good deer, hogs, squirrels n fur bearing critters. Deep east tx has numerous national forest lands, loaded with the same as patman n it butts up to the la state line on some forests, but make sure to READ ea places requirements for permits, vehicle usage, baiting n weapons allowed. I was thinkn bout makin a run up to patman n run the dogs n see bout catchn some hogs when i get done with pvt ground flt ground school in early may. Ur willin to tag along if u would like. Only thing rqrd up there is a hunting license. Pm me if ur interested n we can set a date n time.

Justin, I hunt and work at Camp Bullis in San Antonio, we have a guy that comes down from Ft. Hood to hunt. They are fixing to open the second exotic season. Good luck finding something!

Hi, Justin. Just read your post and if you are still looking, we are less than 20 minutes from Ft. Hood on 100 acreas that we have recently posted for lease. Let us know if you're interested in working something out, possibly.

Still in the look for a good hunting area. As previously stated I would much rather try to come to an arrangement of doing some work on land in exchange for some hunting time. I am looking to meet some people to hunt with and just have some good times with. Although I have some years before retirement, I would rather get a group of buddies that can link up for hunting and good times rather than just paying a stranger for a plot of hunting acreage. I realize this type of request is far fetched this day and age, the world is turning into a place built on greed and a true lack of morals and friendship. This is not something I want my children to experience. Again, I'm not looking to wreck land or cause a fuss, just looking for a safe quality area worth sharing and talking about. Thanks everyone for the wishes and recommendations.
Justin

Guys, We have 180 Acres, 8 miles south of Gatesville, Central Texas, and Coryell County. We are wanting to post for deer season. How do I post the advertisement and what price should I ask?
