Are there turkeys in Harrison county or the Longview/Marshall area? Family has land that I deer hunt out there and wondering if there are any turkey's. I have not seen any on our place but curious if Lake of the Pines has public land with turkeys or anywhere else in the area. I have searched the Texas Parks and Wildlife site and have not found much to indicate if there are or are not turkeys in that part of the state.

thanks for your time.

I hunted in Marshall about 10 years ago and we had a family of turkeys that we would hear and occasionally see on our 400 acre lease. It was all hens though. We never heard or saw any toms or jakes. I'm not sure if they ever got established enough in that area to hunt though.

Yes there are some turkey in the Marshall area. I hunt out northeast of Marshall out Hwy 43 near Caddo Lake and we have a good group on our place. It's only a 30 day season and 1 bird limit. The bird must be taken to a check station, see TPWD for locations and you can not hunt over any kind of bait.
