A buddy of mine I grew up with and work with bought some land a couple of months ago and we have been working every weekend clearing and finding boundaries as most of it is very thick. So today I'm on the tractor mowing down one of the boundaries and I get off the tractor to get a drink and rest. I go exploring and find a nice stand in a tree someone has put up on the property. They know they are trespassing because the place is fenced. I wanna have some fun with this so I thought I would leave the stand until the day before bow season starts, then take it down and leave it at the bottom of the tree with a "no trespassing" sign attached to it or I thought about just firing a gun multiple times not too far away just as the sun is coming up opening morning. Anyone got any creative ideas? Keep in mind I know the landowner like a brother and he does'nt care what I do. O Yeah...If anyone reading this had to cross a fence and put a stand in a cottonwood tree on a levee you should probably get it down pretty quick. That stand may disappear.

Just be sure to keep it with in the laws & make sure it isnt the landowner or someone he "LET" do that.

Looks to me that someone was nice enough to donate a deer stand to your cause. I would move it to a place I wanted to hunt.

That sounds like the best idea, although it might be better to do it 2 weeks ahead of season.
Just keep in mind, who ever you mess with, unless you are close enough to monitor the place on a daily basis can make your life miserable. JMO.

Throw fox P and other fine scents all over the area and paint the bottom of the tree purple

I like a combo play here. I would take the stand down and leave a note on the tree saying the stand can be picked up by contacting the local game warden. Also put a purple paid mark on the tree. This might make it clear to the person to stay out. Jake

I would just take it down and claim it as my own. If someone wants it back then let them come to you and ask for it. AND, I would give it back if they were able to describe it just to keep the peace.
I wouldn't be so quick to accuse my new neighbors of trespassing. The previous owners could have put the stand up.

Leave the stand alone and contact the GW, Sheriff's Dept., or JP and ask them what to do. That way you are in the right and the stand owner can't come back and say anything against you.
The trespasser has all kinds of potential "excuses" for why he put the stand on the property, but can you find an "excuse" for why you dismantled, removed etc. property that you knew was not yours?
I know this is not the "fun" way, but it is the legal and best way.
Good luck,

The way I see it, the stand belongs to the property owner. It's y'alls to do what you wish. I'd pull it down, and take it home, or put it up somewhere else. Then put "posted" signs all over the entire fence. Not just in that area, so as not to single out any one neighbor. But all the way around the property. A fence should be sign enough to stay out, but some people just don't understand that.
Or, if you really wanted to have some fun, go up there the evening before opening morning and take a big ole dump right in the seat of the stand.

Take it down and take it home. Leave a Thank You! card tacked to the side of the tree. Put a picture of you sitting in the stand all in camo and set up somewhere else, in with the card.

Thanks guys, I knew I would get some ideas from this bunch. I think taking it down, painting the tree puple and leaving a thank you card should do the trick. I don't think it's a neighbor because this area of the property ajoins Corp property.

1ST IT WOULD BE MY STAND AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED
IT WOULD BE NICE IF YOU COULD GET THE GW THERE FOR OPENING MORNING... IF NOT I'D BE HUNTING IT OPENING MORNING.

Leave the stand there and put another stand right beside it on the same tree.
Dress up a dummy and put it in the stand for em to find on opening day.
They don't put the word "eat" in "meat" for nothin you hippie

2 wrongs dont make a right. I wouldnt take his stand just cause he trespassed. Set up a camera in the area where he cant find/see it. Also let the GW know so that WHEN you catch him red-handed there & on game cam, he's severely busted.

I would take it down and put a laminated note on the tree that says if you want your stand give me call. If or when he calls have the GW meet with you! I beat you never hear from again! He is trespassing and if he was allowed to hunt there before you should have been notified. JMHO!

I also agree with Ralph. The game warden may even come and get the stand and keep it to avoid further conflict should the owner show up looking for it. If that happens, just tell them who to contact to get it back.

Boy the trespassor would be VERY surprised to find the local GW sitting in his stand the next time he "wandered" in.

Personally I think a stuffed dummy sitting in the stand on opening morning would be hilarious.
But I think contacting the GW and letting him handle it is the best route. You never know what kind of nut the stand belongs to, the GW gets paid to deal with these types of idiots. He has also been trained and knows how to handle it.

If you only bought the property two months before, it very likely could be someone that had permission from the previous owner and has no idea the land has sold. Three seasons ago I got permission to hunt on a small bit of land next to my deer lease from the owner. He told me it was his weekend getaway and did not hunt. In turn I would keep a close eye on his cabin. He was only there on Sundays. This was only a verbal agreement with a handshake across the fence. Knowing things change in such agreements I always check in with landowners if any time has passed. Sure enough he had sold the land over the summer.

Same thing had happened to me. I had permission to hunt a place. Had set up a deer feeder and everything. Found out, After I had been out there a few times that the land had sold a few months prior. I contacted the new land owner and let them know that I had been out there and I was sorry that I didnt know it had sold to them. I then asked permission to hunt the place. The guy didnt want it hunted but was very nice and let me get my feeder.

Maybe the stand was up before he/you purchased the property and was left behind.
