Okay guys, I'm in the turkey woods right now. It's about 7:50 in the morning and I haven't heard a single gobble, yelp or cluck. What have the birds been doing for you all? I have turkey hunted for several years now and I haven't been lucky enough to bag a bird. I'm not leaving the woods today till I get a thunder chicken. Any advice? I'm in Parker county FYI. Thanks

I was in the field this weekend too. Perfect weather no gobbles or sounds either. Spotted two jakes on my way to set up. Sat for 4 hours in the afternoon and nothing. Then on the way out I spotted a group of hens and 4 gobblers in a freshly plowed field going to roost. This was in Brown county.

rios do not hit the silent mode as often as easterns do but it is not unheard of. Doesn't mean they will not come to calls but they will often just appear when they have gone silent.

Also a lot of the time when silent in the mornings they might gobble some at midday. Stick with it and good luck

Its pretty windy you may not be able to hear them and they may not be able to hear you.

When it's windy should I focus more on being in the timber or hunt the fields? Thanks for the replies so far.

The birds on our place in Young Co were really loud the first week of the season. Since then they have been REAL quiet. They're still there, just not gobbling much at all after fly down.

We had quiet birds thursday, crazy loud birds friday, and quiet birds saturday. You never can tell man, most of it seem's to have to do with weather. Wind was not that bad friday and they were red hot.

I would concentrate on areas where you have seen the most Turkey sign. Patience is key during the wind.

Wind/rain typically you'll catch them in the fields. Think they have adapted to rely less on hearing and more on sight when these conditions are present, just my experience

I usually go to the thicker areas (but not too thick), in the lower areas between hills, or in creek bottoms/draws.
