i hunt a small lease in medina county with a five deer limit where i have yet to see a doe this year. i also hunt a private ranch in burleson where i cannot kill any does becuase we only have 100 acres. today i saw 22 in the morning and 18 in the evening.
talk about backward!

That is one of the joys about hunting deer in our great state. The biologists in Austin, don't have to listen to the biologists in the field. There are still some folks around, including people that work for TP&W that feel like if you saw deer while out hunting, that was good enough. JMO

And along with what Crazyhorse said, doe aren't as dumb as humans would have them to be...they know where to get to protection - whether it's a briar thicket or a tract of land where they're "protected by ignorance".

I would try to apply for some LAMPS Permits for burleson. There still might be some available for this season. If you put pressure on the does more times than not they will be as hard or harder to kill than the big bucks in my experience at least the older does.

we do not qualify for LAMPS permits because the minimum acreage is 200 acres. we only have 103. If there are permits left for the county would they consider smaller land plots? there is no doe season either unlike most of the counties to the east.
