The only real problem I have with exotics is when people do not have good fencing to keep them on their property. What you do with exotics on your property is your business. The second you can't control them and keep them fenced it, it becomes a problem for the neighbors and community. They're non-native species which in my opinion you should be cautious to keep them away from the native critters.

I'm planning on sneaking some nice narwhal into some of the local ponds around here. I prefer the taste of dolphin, myself.

That would only be 1 or 2 I wish they'd release a ton of giraffes.

There's every kind of "nut case" you can imagine here. Members have stated that if they saw a 200"+ non-typical, they'd shoot it and leave it laying to rot because they hate big non-typicals. Then there are those that hate drop tines. And those that hate old deer. And those that hate young deer. With so much hating going on, I'm surprised anything gets shot.  I hate to hear that.

Im the same way, I like hunting them, but I have seen too many cases where people don't maintain their fences. Also cases where the ranch goes under and the landowner leaves the gates wide open as they leave. They should be fined by the state when that happens.

Interesting thread. How does an Exotic differ from commercial livestock? Sheep, goats and cattle are surely not native, and they do compete with deer.

Thought provoking question. Not only do they compete, just look what they've done to the landscape in areas of Texas like Rocksprings. To answer your question, I'd say there is only one difference....we don't hunt commercial sheep, goats and cattle.
