I'm about to venture into this area and see what happens. Anyone have any experience or input on the situation. Worth it or not worth it. I figured a wild hog buyer or slaughter house. Haven't checked hog prices though. Heard everyone is different

Met some guys in East TX doing this. They only get $35 a hog. I don't know how that rates but sure doesnt seem worth it to me.

I wouldn't go by that list. The one in hunt county and in Newcastle where I get my hogs at are not in business. I've tried both numbers

I'm not even running my pig traps right now. Not worth the corn and diesel it takes to haul them to the buyer.

kyotee1,
How do regulations apply to the sale of dispatched or dead field dressed feral hogs? I have seen trapped feral hogs for sale before where they offered the sale to someone to come out to shoot and remove a hog on sight at the trap. And I have seen them offered for sale or trade before where the seller has killed a hog and offering to transport the field dressed hog same day to meet someone to complete the sell or trade. How do regulations apply in those situations or do they apply at all?

1st post. Do you work for the FDA?

FDA law requires all processed meat whether domestic or feral to be fda inspected if sold for human consumption or donated to charity. i know this because I emailed the FDA in the legalities of selling dead feral hogs to individuals. That was their exact response. Now giving away a dead feral hog for free and charging to clean it, would might be ok because the individual might not consume it, but use it for catfish bait if thats what he tells you. Get my drift?

You can donate to charity w/out being inspected. Especially in TX they have the Good Samaritan law that allows for it. I give away thousands of pounds a year as well as feed thousands w/ feral hog meat.

After about 30yrs of cull/varmit shooting ranches, ect I had a guy want me to pay him $350 to shoot hogs..I advised him that if he'd pay for my AMMO..I'd kill them and he could clean them..if he wanted them..Most folks who never have really cull shot or killed much game commercially don't realize that it is mostly just work and not nearly as much fun as hunting w/your buds or kids..
We used to take about 35 or more doe a yr off one ranch and skin
debone and cape the paid hunters deer wkly..Sunday mornings we usually skinned and pkg'd about 8 deer..Once you get enough of the smell in your nose, it quits being as much fun..DD

I am often driving down US-79 near Marquez (intersection of Hwy 7 & 79). There is a guy in a Jeep pulling a small trailer that I see taking wild hogs to a buyer almost EVERY time I go through the area. Sometimes as I'm coming and going on a day trip, I see that guy with another load of wild hogs. He is coming from the direction of behind Lake Limestone, in the big bottom area (towards Kosse.) I envision he is sitting on a gold mine of wild hogs.
