Hinges on the inside only serves to clean up the looks as long as it has large locking bars on both sides of the door. You could cut off the hinges and still be unable to open the door. Also internal hinges limit how far the door will open. Mine is little more than 90deg and can make it a pain to get stuff out if that side of the safe as door is in the way.

I bought a Liberty last year. Couldn't be more pleased with it and I got a really solid deal on it.

I have a friend who has several Champions from Lone Star out of Houston. You can also read reviews on Cabelas, BPS , etc. to get customer feedback.

Go with a Liberty. They got soured because of a winchester safe, and crappy customer service. Get a Liberty, and I guarantee you you wont have that problem, and I will only own a safe with a digital lock.

There was a thread on here a while back about someone's house caught fire and Cannon replaced the safe that was damaged for free!!! Something to look at is Cannon stands behind their product!!!

looking at the liberty line for my new safe....in particular the revere models. however, ive been told whatever safe youre buying you might be better going the next size up...at least for gun capacity...so that might mean the colonial..plus in that model theres lots more color option
any suggestions as to what you liberty buyers have bought and what your pleased with or not pleased with?? thanks!

I ordered a "Sturdy Safe" brand after reviewing a lot of different options. I read in to their fire proofing info versus what most of the other companies use and agree with thier info.
No matter the brand, the one thing I did wrong was not get the taller option. My safe is only 60" tall and I could have upgraded to a 72" tall version for just a little more. The extra height allows you to have a shelf over your guns to hold papers, pistols or mags. If I want to keep that shelf in my safe I have to dismantel some of my longer shotguns.

We've got a Liberty. It's the Fatboy Jr. Says it will hold 48, not sure how many it will actually hold though. Got it on sale Thanksgiving week and have been very pleased with it.
Looks nice, has a 45 minute fire rating I believe.

I recommend the American Security BF series. They are a bit pricey, but in my opinion are some of the best on the market. They are solid and have no gypsum in them. They are filled with a special concrete and are constructed of two steel boxes. What that means is they eliminated the weak points. I bought mine at the Safe Co in Garland. They have very good deals and deliver for very reasonable prices. BTW most reputable safe companies warranty their safes and will replace them for free in the event of a fire or burglary.

Avoid electronic as mechanical is more reliable. Above is correct the hinges are not a weakness in a well built safe. Bolt down to concrete if possible. Conceal safe so burglars can't find it even better.

I've sold several dozen Ft. Knox in the past and everyone that has them love their safes. I no longer have a firearms business and am considering a Liberty, they have a very good product and customer service. Liberty is the one with the advertisement where they have 3 safes and burn the building around them, the Liberty is the only one that doesn't have damaged guns and papers. I agree with the posts above about the hinges and it is more important to me to be able to open the door further than the aesthetics of having the hinges hidden inside and limiting how far the door will open. Get the biggest, tallest, and highest fireproof rating you can afford (or a bit more than you can comfortable afford) and you will be happier in the long run.

I have a Liberty Colonial 35 cu.ft. model.
Love it with a dial. Wife loves it. Would buy another if/when I need it. Buy as big as you can afford and fit where you want it to sit.
