I'm considering getting one in the near future (maybe in the morning) and wanted some thoughts. I have a few full-sized pistols, and even a 1911 Officers size. I just don't have anything small and compact. I have tried to like the new polymer pistols, but just haven't found one I like. I had a Beretta PX4, a Glock 19, a Kel-Tec PF9, and a ruger SR9c... I traded them all away. I grabbed onto a Springfield 45 XDS today, and it just felt like another piece of plastic. So now I'm considering the P938. Either that, or I need to let go of my all-steel Officer 1911 and look into some of the alloys.

Cant say about the 938, but i had the 238 and it was a good shooter. Would expect the same out the 938.

Shot the 938 last week. Is a good shooter and I like the trigger 100x better than the lc9. I think the one with the houge grips would feel a little better but I was impressed with it. It's on my short list of pistols I want

Good news. I think I am going to grab one VERY soon. I just need to decide which model of the P938. I am use to the 1911 configuration, and Condition One is my favorite mode of carry.

Its a great gun but I am iffy about single action only for carry. If it did double/single it would be the perfect gun.

I just bought a 938 for the wife and hopefully we,ll get a
chance to pop a few caps this week. This model came with the
extended 7 round mag that helps with the grip, hogue grips
and night sights. I can't wait to shoot it.

If you're used to 1911s, you will probably be disappointed with the trigger on the 938. IMHO the one I played with felt heavy and gritty.

The 238 triggers do smooth out after a couple 200 or so rounds, I'd imagine the p938 is similar.

Thanks for the info! I couldn't resist. After calling around the DFW area, I found an Extreme model at an Academy Sports. I like the Extreme because it comes with both magazines. It was only $10 more than a very similar model that only came with the 6 round magazine. I agree the trigger is a little gritty compared to my 1911s, but it is way better than any DAO trigger I have owned. If it doesn't smooth out after a couple hundred rounds, I'll look into getting some trigger work done. Now the problem is that my wife is loving it. I may have to get another or perhaps find a P238 for her.

Congrats, I like my blackwood, reliable shooter, I just dont like how heavy the trigger is and accuracy isn't great.

I might have solved my problem. smile I found myself a fine little Sig UC Nitron! I think I can work it into some type of summer conceal rig.

OTOH, looks like I am going to have to sell off my current EDC 1911. Oh well, sometimes you can't keep them all.

Pretty much sums up my experience with the 938.

Sights were way off on mine,NIB. I had to shift both front and rear sights. Don't know if someone had a bad day when they installed the sights, but at five feet it was four inches left. Other than that, no problems. Love the gun.

What he said. That trigger has kept me from getting one. I'd rather have the smaller 238

I've owned the 238 since they first came out with the non recall version.
So its been a few years.. I've already had to replace the recoil spring since I'm sitting somewhere around 3000rds through mine..
The trigger feels just fine..
I'm about to sell it off to purchase a 938
A friend of mine recently bought the 938 and i fired two mags through it and it felt awesome!!
The trigger isn't anything to compare with my CDP kimber but for CCW I'm sold on it...
A brand new trigger will only get better with usage. So shoot this sh1t out of it and enjoy!!

Grateful for the search option on this forum. I'm about to pull the trigger on buying one of these.

I have one. I cussed it a bunch, but it runs okay now.

I found on mine that when they bead blasted/shot peened the slide, they obviously did it with the slide assembled, because under a microscope you could see the same texture on all the components, such as the extractor. After 30-40 shots it started hanging up & wouldn't feed. When I pulled it down, there were large amounts of brass deposits on the breech face and bottom of the slide. These too were areas that should have been left smooth, but were also shot peened.

I got busy and polished the breech face, and all the components that needed it. It runs fine now, although it still has a rough trigger. Annoying they apparently expect you to burn 500 rounds (or more) to polish up surfaces that should have been smooth out of the box.

Call me fussy, but semi-autos should function semi-automatically out of the box smile

One tip I will give prospective buyers - unlike a 1911, the firing pin stop CAN be installed backwards, and you'll get misfires if you do so. Make sure you re-assemble with the bottom radii facing the hammer.

It still needs a trigger job, but I have decided to like the pistol. If you buy one, just be prepared to work on it smile

^ Good advise that makes sense. Thanks
