8-16 lbs with optics. Some can go as low as 7, but that's rare.

The Bushmaster Carbon 15s run about 5.5lbs and high end is what you stop at. Adding more gear will increase that number. It's all up to you.

My S&W Sport is about 6.5 pounds without optics. Very light.

The lightest you could really build one would be around 5lbs without optics, and you'd have to use a polymer lower to pull that off.
That said, a 14.5 "pencil" or lightweight profile barrel, along with a polymer lower, and a modular free-float rail (Something like a Samson or Troy Alpha Rail) would be ultra light.

My current go to setup is a 16" LW @ 6.5# and built this because lugging around a 18" bull barrel with NV gets heavy.
Light AR's are nice, but balance is key. Even a heavier gun well balanced isn't a chore to walk around. But having something front heavy will be a hassle.
Good luck!

This one is a hair under 16lbs, Probably near the top end. 24in bull barrel and weighted stock to maintain balance.

Mine is about 18-19 lbs. I went a little overboard on build. Lol.

Personal thought here... Any .223/5.56 that weighs over 9lbs is not worth the weight, including optics, Once you hit the 10lbs mark you are in .308 country, its the whole mobility vs fire power equation. My AR15 build has not ended yet but currently I am at 7lbs 14oz. I plan on doing a 20 inch fluted barrel which will bring the total weight to about 9lbs.

For practical purposes, don't forget the weight of the ammo. If you're carrying a loaded 30 rd magazine it's gonna add significant weight. And then there's the spare mag we all have with us as well.............
I haven't weighed mine. No scale. But it's a Larue OBR, 16" barrel, nightforce 1-4, a bi-pod when not walking.
