Ok, so does anybody besides Bulter Creek make flip-up scope covers? I have gone through 4 Butlers in the past year and I'm looking for something a little sturdier in the hinge.

I've been looking and all I see are the Butler Creek over and over and over.

Shooting matches I break them about quartely. Especially the eye piece when it recoils onto the cap on my head. I saw a guy at the last match running a new type of scope cap "Tactical Tough". He's been running them for a year with no breakage. I found them on Midway just havnt remembered to order a set.

Amen brothers. i have broken every pair that I have bought. I have mostly Zeiss scopes and a couple Leupolds. i bought a set from the leupold custom shop for my varmit rig. They are aluminum and threaded. Their newer scoped are threaded on the inside of the tube abd the covers screw into the tube. Also when flipped open they will lay back flat down on the scope tube. Work very weel and are durable.
However, the Zeiss scopes are not threaded and they do not make any covers like the Leupold covers.

Wish they did

I had a set of Swarovski flip opens. Broke both of them. Have had several sets of Buttler Creeks and have never had one break.

I was wondering the same thing. I have been looking all over for a pair of flip ups for my Zeiss, but haven't found anything besides butler creek. I was told at Cabelas that the Leupolds will work on the Bell, but not on the eyepiece.

I love having salemen tell me things won't work. Then they watch me pull out a ruler and start measuring things against the measurements I wrote down.

When I was there to look at the leupold flip up covers I asked if we could try them on a ziess and the guy behind the counter got out his pocket knife to cut open the package and stabbed himself right in the hand. There was blood all over the gun counter. If he can't operate a pocket knife, I think a ruler might be way out of his capabilities.

Optics Planet carries a good variety of covers. I've got a set of Hawke ambers on my Sightron-II that work good. Butlers are OK if you never take your gun to the field!

why not just get one of
those neoprene stretchy
covers? i have 'em on all
mine. they help protect from
dings, and they're only about
6.00-9.00.
it takes about a half of a second
to take one off, and about that
to re-install. i don't hunt
with one in place, so getting
the cover off the scope isn't
an issue.

+1. All the flip-ups leak...eventually. This bit of wisdom comes straight from my favorite SE Alaska bear outfitter. Use a bikini scope cover or a piece of inner tube and forget the flip-ups, now and forever.

This is what I use on my Scope. Works great. Easy on and off. Never breaks. Cheap to buy. up

Try using the full neoprene scope cover. Secure with electrical zip ties, a cross cut piece of bicycle inner tube or Velcro wraps fore and aft of the turrets. Use a razor to cut small slits in the cover to accommodate large turrets. You can keep the objectives protected when needed and slip the cover back quickly.

I set my rear cap so it flips to the side. I have my rifle out all day and the dust gets pretty bad on the rear of the scope riding on the passenger side.

IMI they are disposable, so just get 2-3 pairs and return the broken ones or fork out the $20/year.

I am just wondering what the heck you guys are doing to break so many of them. roflmao

Seriously I spend about as much time in the woods as anyone here and havent broke one...........yet. I know the day is coming when one will break on me but it will certinly be the exception and not the rule.

I've got an older set from about 8yrs ago on my .300wsm with nikon 3-9x50. I've carried that rifle I don't know how many miles through thick brush and shot about 200rnds through it without issue.

Just bought a new set for another scope. Hope it isn't a cheaper plastic or something. I'm very happy with my other ones.
