Iam looking for a new deer rifle. What do you hunt deer with?

270. Easy to get ammo. Great knock down all the way up to Elk size animals

I prefer short action rifles and in 31 years of use the 7mm-08 IMO is about as good as it gets for deer, have used close to 30 different rounds for deer over the years and none have performed any better than the 7-08. In the rifles available today a Tikka T3 in 7mm-08 is a hard combo to beat, but there are lots of good options these days. For years though the Remington 788 in 7-08 is the go to rifle for deer.

I use a 30-06.
Because I can load it down with 55gr for varmints or load up with 220gr for bear (use 150 or 165 for deer)

Over the past cpl years I've started shooting the mess out of the Rem 700 XCR 270WSMs

.308 last year. i'll stick with it this year.

sako 7mm mag, yes it is a lot of gun, but it goes with me everywhere, super accurate.

Was my 25-06 but now use my 6.8 ar

7mm or 280 is my fav. Deer in the panhandle are not little bodied

I use a 270 and 22-250 most of the time.

My 270 still can reach out 500 yards and knock something down.

I also use my 300wby sometimes if I get to shoot long range.

Depends on where I’m hunting and my mood. Usually it’s a Rem 700 30-06 or savage 99 in 308 WIN or 300 Savage. Recently I’ve become quite fond of my Marlin 308ME and it’s seeing more and more field time.

I have used a .270 with a 130 grain for a very long time on all game in Texas. I have started using a .280 for Mule Deer for the last 2 seasons. I have also used a .223 for management on doe numbers mainly for the last 4 yrs now.

What? You waiting for someone to start arguing about caliber for deer?

I prefer a .243 for WT, but anything mentioned above works just as good. It's all personal preference.

Remington 700 BDL 30-06 with Burris 4X....wife bought as a present when I graduated from college. I just bought a Winchester 70 XTR Sporter (used) in 25-06....gonna put a 3X9 or 4X12 scope on it....if I am lucky enough to get another invite to a friends place south of Sonora I am gonna try the 25-06.....I am disabled and the 25-06 should be easier on my shoulder....
