I'm making a move to Texas and looking at places in diffrent counties. Now someone told me that there are counties that are archery only for white tails. I was looking on the TPWD web site for some info on this. I'm not really seeing where it says No Rifle. Most of the counties read, Archery Only: Sept. 29-Nov. 2, 2012. Then the General Season: Nov. 3, 2012-Jan. 6, 2013. Can you hunt with a rifle durring the General Season? Dwight

There are restrictions on public lands where it is only bowhunting and shotguns. These are mainly on State Parks. Yes you can hunt with a bow through rifle season in most if not all counties that have a general season. Welcome to Texas

Grayson is THE ONLY COUNTY IN TEXAS THAT IS EXCLUSIVELY ARCHERY, and they voted down an opportunity to offer any other kind of weapon that could be used ....Crossbow is legal only for physically impaired. Grayson County produced a P&Y State Trophy this year & #2 Alltime trophy, and regularly puts a number of P&Y critters on the board EVERY year ....thats why the stick & string guys doan't want a rifle season or shotgun season or a black powder season... JMHO & YMMV from a NON Archer Cheers Ron

Thanks for all your input. I'm looking at couple of places in Jack County. I enjoy bow hunting but don't wanted to limited to only a bow. Dwight

If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

...must have missed the Deer Seasons listed in the TP&W Guide in Dallas, Collin & Rockwall County's...
OBTW I am also not aware of a legal Open to the Public Gun Range that allows deer sized caliber Centerfire Rifles in Grayson County since Ray Zipper's on place on Ranger Road was ordered closed by the Grayson County Commissioner's despite meeting the NRA's Guidelines ... and the Voters of Grayson County denied approval of the full service privately funded Public Gun Range that was proposed just outside Sherman.
Can't say about Collin or Rockwall County's but at least the City of Dallas still has a full service Public Gun Range in operation after some 40+ years at the Luna Rd location, in addition to a couple smaller privately owned and operated rifle ranges. YMHO & YMMV Cheers Ron

They have deer in Rockwall county jshouse? Yes not a lot though Rockwall cty is the smallest county in Texas. My nephew saw one running through the parking lot of Chandlers landing one night. My parents live on Rainbow lake in Rockwall. Buffalo creek flows out of it. There are Deer on BC.

Are they showing up from Hunt county? They were stocked in Rockwall, Hunt, and Kaufman counties in the mid 70's.
