My carry pistols are the xds and a Glock 27. Like both really well. Good luck.

I love my Glock 17 gen4....It just feels right in my hand and im very accurate with it...That being said ive been looking at adding a XDM 4.5" 9mm to my arsenal. It is a sweet gun as well.....see if you can borrow someones pistol your looking at buying and go shoot it..Thats the only way you will know for sure if its the one for you...Hope this helps

For CC I would recommend to look at S&W MP shield; in 9 or 40, your choice.
That said, I do not think you can beat wheel gun to have in your holster while you are bow hunting.

I bought my full size (4" barrell) 9mm from cabelas. year ago. they had it for $570 and I brought an online print out and they price matched academy at $499. and then I used $150 in gift cards and got it out the door for about $400.

I love it. have probably 1500-2000 rounds through it. am super accurate with it, it's really easy to handle and shoot, easy to disassemble Etc. awesome gun all around in my opinion (I'm no expert I'm only 24 but this was my first hand gun purchase). I just bought a kahr cw9 for CCW that I really like too, only thing about the px4 is in a quick draw situation you have to mess with the safety, my kahr doesn't have one. but then again that's why I don't carry the px4 unless I'm at the ranch

I personally like all of the Colt 45 and Sig 226..I'm not much on
Glocks although a lot of folks shoot them..The Sig is really a pc
of work and easy to clean and work on..but runs around $850 or more..DD

You can't go wrong with any of the Sigs. I have shot a bunch and own a SP2022 9mm. I just like how it feels in my hand more than a glock and like the SA/DA. I also didn't like how the Springfield XD felt. Just personal preference.

"+++1 However, my favorite pistols are 1911 single action varieties. Armscor (Rock Island Armory andCitadel) are very well made and affordable. There are also a few other imported 1911s that fit your budget (ATI, Tisas, and a few more)."

Might be a little late, but I shot my new Citadel compact today. It shot great, no hiccups, with reloaded ammo. I did highly polish the feed ramp and barrel throat??? before I went though. Damn accurate for a small pistol.

I have a Nighthawk Custom Talon bobtail and I love the gun. However, if I were to be in a SHTF situation I honestly think I would reach for my Glock 19. I don't know why, but I just would!

I go to Bone Daddy's for the burgers....yeah, that's why.

Surprised at all the 9mm recommendations over the .40.

Go to a range that rents pistols,,shoot as many as you can that have been mentioned above. You may really like the looks of one, but might not like the way you shoot with it.

I own Glocks, M&Ps, XDs and Sigs. My favorites in order: Sig, M&P, Glock and XD. All have functioned without any issues, so my preference is based on how the gun feels in my hand and how well I can shoot the gun. I also like the CZ75b.

Get the Ruger SR9 and then have some money left over to buy you some ammo!

I had an HK USP .40 compact. Loved it. Never had a problem with it. Got a 1911 itch, sold it.

I've worked my way through a few pistols in the last couple years. In general my idea of what would be perfect has not turned out so. Every handgun I have purchased was completely adequate for the intended purpose but none are perfect. If I was buying a new handgun today, I would try a .45 XDm 3.8. It's very similar in size to a glock 19/23 just a little thicker. The dimensions of a compact pistol fits my had without being brickish like my Glock 21. I reload 95% of my ammo and .45 caliber and large primer are a convienent dimension to handle and load. I hate loading small primers and .38 cal bullets. They are hard to see and grip! The XDm will also handle lead bullets which is a concern for the glock (some say). Unfortunately just about any new pistol is going to push the $600 window right now. The XDm at the local shop is $680 this morning. Glocks were $550.

The Kahr CM9 is a good one. I don't know if the Shield has been mentioned. I like my Glock 27. I heard the PPQ is a really nice gun.

I know this is late, but take a good look at their used guns as well. I picked up a s&w 411 .40 last week in their used section for $299. All metal body, still haven't gotten to shoot it yet, but it feels great in my hand. I know they won't have that particular gun, but I'm all for buying used and saving some scratch.

A real hunter never returns empty handed. Spending time in the wilderness temporarily satifies the soul, but leaves us longing for more.

Thank y'all for the advice. I got the gift card from Purina by turning in my weight circles on all my dog food bags. When I look at their web site it says its on back order. So I haven't received it yet. After shooting a few guns I'm leaning toward the Berette PX4 storm in .40.

Glock C29 compact 10mm auto.

Fits in your pocket, will knock down a deer or pig right then and there.

A friend of mine has a PX4 Storm in 9mm. It's okay, but not my favorite gun to shoot...its sights are a bit off (from the factory). Personally I'd go with a Springfield - best warranty and customer service in the business. I love my XD40, and my friend's XDm SubCompact40 shoots very well.
