I just bought a new Ruger 357 Mag w/ 6" barrel. Anybody have any 38 special rounds to suggest for use at the range and/or 357 mag rounds to use out hog hunting?

Thanks,

That is a well made pistol. It should digest anything you throw at it. If you are going to try hunting hogs with a pistol, I personally like hardcast lead slugs over hollopoints. You get better penetration at 100yds.

i have a stainless gp100. its built like a tank. en route is a hi-viz front sight i ordered off amazon for like $28. ive read it really helps vs. the black on black front and rears that are on it. i also polished mine a bit with eagle 1 wadding polish and then with some stainless mag wheel polish. it looks awesome! currently trying to decide on some new grips. good purchase, im sure you will love it as i do.

god bless.

I agree with JESmith. Look for heavier flat nose gas check lead for hog hunting. I like the 187 grain Cast Performance, and 185 grain BTB. Both are accurate and recoil is less to me than the lighter bullets.

I used a remington UMC 125gr soft point on a neck shot and it did not pass thru. I was using a 12" Contender with no BC gap so I had probably 25% more horsepower under the hood. It did not pass thru and was obviously recovered. The temporary wound channel with .357 is minimal and bullet placement is a must. Even if you get both lungs dont expect a lot of blood trail. I am thinking hard cast is going to pass thru but not expand so pick your poison.
