I'm looking for a tough tire that's good off road. I'm tired of cutting tires on rocks and mesquite stumps. Are those Kevlar tires that much more cut resistant?

I've got a set on my Jeep and Tacoma. I've had the Jeep in bunch of rocks which are prone to popping tires while on the trail and so far they have handled up great. As for mesquite, not sure since I haven't had ran into them much on the trails in the hill country.

A friend of mine has the MT's on his Dodge Megacab diesel 4x4. He cut the side wall while at the lease in Coryell County last year. He drove home to Rockwall with that tire and it never went flat. The rubber compound on the MT's are soft. He didn't rotate them and ended up having front end problems. His fault all the way. Great tires though.

Do the Dura Tracs have the Kevlar in them? Do any tires besides the MT have Kevlar or anything else that makes them cut resistant?

Don't know about the mt's but the dura tracs are tough!!!! Meh Put a mesquite thorn through a sidewall with less than a 1000 miles on mine. I was looking for the MTS when I bought the duratracs a couple years ago. They were scarce due to the Hummer contracts. They are pricey as well.

From south tx to CO never an issue. And im bad about using my truck to push mesquites

I had those tires and they worked pretty good in South Texas but the BF Goodrich ATR tires are my favorite...but expensive.

I have the "E" load rated Nitto's on my truck now. I will be going back to BFG's. The side walls have held up, but the tread, not so much. The rocks on my place tore chunks of the tread out. The BFG's didn't do that. I got 40K miles out of the BFG's and just a bit over 30k on the Nitto's. They are bald now.

Best tire I have ever owned. Long life, tough, wear pattern good Have two, sets on both of my 1 ton 4x4 cummins. A bit pricey, but actually cheaper over the life of tires.

My new truck came with brand new bfg at's and they arent going to make it to 30k

I don't mind the price. I'm looking for quality and willing to pay for it. I'm thinking about giving them a shot.

Best tires I have ever owned and I have owned them all on at least one of my trucks thruought the years. Good luck with whatever you choose.

If the price is no issue then BFG mud terrain KM2s are my choice. Might be a little noisy but overall great off road tire!

Had a set of KM2's. They did real well for me.
I think they were designed as a rock crawler. Softer tread does better for that. They lasted as long for me as all of the other mud terrains I tried on my work trucks, but I never got more than 20,000 out of any of them, due to the abuse they saw.

I have had the MTR's and now have the Duratracs. I can say that hands down I like the duratracs a lot better. The MTR's seemed to have a bit quieter ride on the highway but the duratracs have better tread wear and IMO alot better all around performing tire. I have 35k on my set now and i still have a ton of tread left. I expect to get 75k+ out of them. I'm down gravel roads all the time and they don't get cut up as bad as the MTR's did.

Just so some of y'all realize it (In case you didn't), there are two styles of MTR's. This (older style) and these (newer with Kevlar)
