Lately, I've been practicing shooting from the hip at about 30 feet. I have gotten to where I can draw and shoot 10 inch groups at 30 feet from the hip. I even practice walking toward the target and shooting at the same time. It takes a little practice to get to where you can actually hit a 10 inch target but I think it's a good skill to have.

Upright, natural stride mostly. I try different tactical maneuvers as well.

If you shoot some IDPA matches (many local clubs thru out Texas), you will be shooting from behind cover, behind barrier, laying....stance is N/A. Shooting while walking backward, forward, and crossing. Mastering shooting while crossing is difficult.
The thing you have to figure out is how to get the pistol sights under your eye.....period. The grip can be an important part of that process. On draw and fire. Moving to new shooting position. Changing targets. Switching hands. Moving while shooting.....The one most important thing is to find your sights.
I don't really think it is grab the handle and shoot. It is grab the handle, find the sights and shoot. The issue is your eye learns to pick up the front sight. It is up to your grip to make sure the pistol is lined up with the back sight in the way. You don't take the time to make sure your back sight is lined up. So it is really all in the grip IMO

I prefer thumbs forward, full contact with weak hand on the grip, strong hand support for a free floating trigger finger. That being said, just practicing at a fixed stance with a single grip is like using a chef knife to always cut carrots at 1/8" diagonals. As a kid I learned to shoot a sling shot a hundred different ways, a BB gun too. Never thought about a particular stance. Life is really so dynamic....I just practiced dynamic shooting. Still do. My absolute best shooting with one of my sub-compacts is with a single hand grip. Just works that way and I choose not to fight it.
Practice every way you can for as many variables as you can. Do you know what your SHTF moment is really going to look like?
2nd Amendment: Use it or loose it.
