I am looking to get a .357 lever action and am deciding between a Marlin or Henry. Does any one have any experience with either? I hear the Henry's are a lot heavier but have not shot either. Any info would help. Thanks.

I have levers in 45lc. I have marlin, uberti, rossi, and all three are good guns. I have an EMF Hartford which is on the 92 win frame in 357 and it is top quality as well. I find the the remakes of the 73 win, 92 win, in the various imports are very good quality rifles. Alot of the cowboy shooters use them. If interested I might sell the 357 I have. Send me a pm.

I have only shot a marlin in 44 mag and 444 and they are both excellent guns. As for Henry I have the golden boy 22lr and it is awesome. If the action is as good on the 357 as the 22 then it would blow the marlin out of the water as far as smoothness goes. My Henry seems to be built very well and I expect it will last my whole life plus some. If I were making your choice I would prob be leaning towards the Henry. I would try to handle both guns first and see which one feels better.
You can't go wrong with either as they are both very fine rifles

No experience with the Henry. Have had 3 of the Marlins the first was one of the ported 16 inch barreled ones wasn't that accurate and lead bullets actually sent lead out the ports so something was wrong with that. The second was a "cowboy action" good rifle but when I got he Stainless 16 inch barreled one the heavier cowboy left the stable. That little stainless 16 inch barreled one has become one of my favorite guns to hunt with.

I have a Marlin in 357 and I am very very happy with it. I have taken whitetail deer, sika deer, hogs and, a ram with it out to about 110 yards. I use 125 gr Hornady Critical Defense Ammo and have had great success.
I carry it with me while guiding/hosting guys. I have had to use it once to finish off a Stag.
I like the Marlin because it is light, handy, accurate, and my is in stainless so it is very durable.
With the Hornady ammo I get touching groups at 50 yards...
I also have mine as my bed gun. I have never used it in this fashion but it currently holds this position as well.
I did replace the front sight with a brass post so I can pick it up better than the factor front sight. Highly recommend the Marlin...

Henry rifle use cheap aluminum to house the entire trigger / cocking mechanism. They make pretty rifles but try or mount a scope stable and it may not hold well.

I have a late model 1894c rep stamped marlin and i havnt had any problems at all with it. The wood could have been fit up a little better but, its not all that noticable. The only bad thing about a 1894c marlin (JM or Rep stamped) is finding them.
