Anyone a fan of savage rifles? I have never owned one, and I have a guy offering me a savage 7 mag as a trade.

I am just wondering how good a Savage rifle is. I know what the rifle cost, and I know what my trade is worth, so it is not really the value I am concerned about.

I have a Savage model 110 in .270 and absolutely swear by it! I sold my Remmy model 7 in .308 as I didn't have the confidence in it like I do the Savage. Hard to beat for the price! Dead-on right out of the box!

What model savage?

I had the model 110 in 7 mag and it kicked like a mule. Spent a $150 to get it ported, and ended up selling it.

In the .270 it is a sweet shooting rifle.

I am still trying to figure out what model. It is good to hear that they are reliable though.

Hopedale, was your model 110 7 mag a composite stock? I am thinking that is what this guy has to offer. I am not real sure though.

Yes.

How I found the gun was from a friend who bought it in 270. Let someone talk me into getting the 7 mag; my mistake for not shooting his 7. The Browning A-bolt 7mag does kick nearly as bad. But it is a haiver gun.

You still have said what you're trading.

I am trading a 3 wheeler.

I will be asking the guy to throw in some money with the rifle if I decide to take it. I may hold out and see what else someone offers.

My first bolt action was a 110 .270. I liked it alot. Wish I hadn't sold it since it was my first.

I have two Savage rifles. One is the Mod. 110 270, really like it, and the other is a 223 forgot the mod# and I really do like that gun. Its by far my fav. I carry it in the truck daily and look for varmits. Savage has come a long way in the improvement of their barrels!!

Thanks for the input guys. Other than the kicking like a mule, it seems it might be a good gun to add to the collection.

I have a Savage 110 in .30-06, and I've had such good luck with it that I'm trying to sell my Remington 700 BDL, which has become a safe queen.

300.00 out da door. It's also fun to paint the grey stock however ya want.

I have one in 223 and it is a shooter.

It ain't easy being me.

I have 4 Savage rifles. Md 110 in .223, .243 and .30-06. I also have an 11fl in .300 WSM. I love them all. The 300 wsm has the accu trigger. They all shoot better than my abilities ( and most peoples I think).

Well, the deal did not work out. I guess I will have to keep looking for something to trade my 3 wheeler with.

Savage is as good as any Remington out there and it is about half the price. Just trash the piece of crap scope from Bushnell that comes with it and get you a Leupold or Nikon.
