Son of a bisket eater. My older GSP got loose this morning anmd went hunting without me. Must be an old story. He has a collar with previous owners number and I put out flyers to neighbors.
Advise if you hear of any well trained dog needing a great situation with lots of birds.

Be sure and post the flyers at the vets offices around you. People take them to the vet to have them checked for chips. Give the previous owner a call and let them know what happened. You might want to contact the GSP rescue in case someone gives them a call. http://www.texasgsp.org/
Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden. Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.

I would call the previous owner and alert him that the dog is missing, and that I want him back. Then, I would put my name collar on my other dogs.

Also check online postings such as Craigslist. Call all vets within several miles, as well as any shelters, boarding kennels, training facilities etc. Also contact the local police department and ask them to keep an eye out for your dog.

No and I am bummed out. I have no back up dog. Other guides ask prices that run most people away. I loved guiding for $100. Was hoping to guide several more hunts this year.

I sent you an email about the dogs I am looking for a good home for as I am no longer going to do any guiding after this year.
