Please fill me in... I've been looking at this round for a year or so but still haven't taken the plunge. I've given up on my quest of a 260 upper for my AR-10 so I'm thinking the 6.5 grendel may be a unique and interesting round in the AR-15. Is the round all that it's reported to be? I do shoot other 6.5's so I'm familiar with the "bullets" and their performance but have no experience with the actual Grendel cartridge.

Basically, It is a 6.5 that will work in an AR 15 platform. Don't have to move to the AR 10 size.
If it were me, I would look at the 264LBC instead. Same song just a different verse.

It's my understanding that the LBC and Grendel are similar enough to be interchangeable...

You'll push the high ballistic coefficient bullets at around 2600 fps, but you'll still be supersonic at 1,000 yards. It will push the light for cartridge rounds to 3,000 fps. Pretty cool for an AR15, but (IMO) a little less cool when you remove the "for an AR15" qualifier.

I really like the AR in 6.5 Grendel. Takes game like hogs and deer very nicely, accurate and like mentioned supersonic past 1000 yards if you want to stretch it out. Trajectory about like a 308 without nearly the recoil. I wish CZ would chamber the 427 in it.

I could be wrong but think the LBC is more hype to the cartridge like the 300 Blackout is to the whisper, made just enough different so no royalties were paid to the owner of the preparatory cartridge.

I have built a "LBC" with ARP barrel and bolt. 16" "SBR profile" whatever that means. I'm getting 2425 fps with Hornady A-max ammo.

Don't think I'll get 2600 outta this. I've worked up some loads for it, but have yet to chrono them. It is a better 7.62 x 39, but I still hunt with my AK-15, hate to lose that precious, expensive, and right now irreplaceable brass in the weeds.

I haven't really wrung it out yet, but probably will once this panic eases up. Now if I could only figger out a protocol to convert cheap x39 ammo into the G-that would be schweet!
