After a brief stint in Pennsylvania (2 years), I am moving back to Texas. I just got my spring gobbler back from the taxidermist & I'd like to know what the best way to transport this bird across the country would be. My company is covering all of the moving - but I don't trust movers with the mount, so I plan to stick it in the truck for the 2 day drive. when I picked it up, I laid the mount on the back of the wood (wall side) and it seemed to do fine. Is there any issue transporting it and leaving it in this position for 36-48 hours at a time? Unfortunately, My bear rug, skull & 3 duck mounts are all going to have to be shipped. Needless to say, I've enjoyed my time in PA.

If possible i would try to put it in the truck upright like it sits on the wall.....laying on the piece of wood for that amount of time and the bumps may cause the bird to come loose...Good luck

I would sit it up like its on the wall and stack things neatly around it so it doesn't get crushed or fall when we moved out here to midlo from desoto only a 15min drive but still I mad two trips just for my mounts and another just for my guns. I had a friend in the back seat holding my Turkey mount and bobcat mount lol.

if you screw it on a board like it is hanging on a wall it seams to make them more steady for transporting. make sure you put screws in from the back side into the wood that hangs on the wall that way if you hit a bump or slam on the breaks you will not damage it.
