Just invested in a RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme reloading kit today at Cabela's. Had a decent sale with a mail in free 500 rounds of bullets mail in coupon online. Bullets do cost $14.95 for shipping. Not bad for 500 rounds of Gold Dot Speer in .40 GPJHP. Plus used 85 points towards the purchase. Plus 0% interest if you buy it with the Cabelas card.

Cant wait to get started.

Welcome to the sickness!

Prepare to spend your down time wandering from big box to "mom and pop" and scouring the internet in search of primers, powders, bullets and brass.

I wouldn't go back to buying factory fodder though. Good luck. Lots of good info on the interweb to help you out of a jam.

Welcome to the obsession. Been doing it for 25+ years and gets worse every year. It is an EXTREMELY satisfying endeavour, and like others have said, I won't look back to factory ammo. I'll bet I've bought less than 150 bucks worth of factory rifle ammo in 25 years. Getting there with pistol ammo as well. Keep safety first and read up on every load manual you can. STOCK UP on components whenever you get the chance.

Lots of folks right here that have a wealth of good information. cheers

And now you will spend a lot of your range time picking up brass. It is indeed an addiction for which there is no known cure.

Was that at the store or online? It's been sold out on line for at least a month.

When I started I was only going to load for my 6.8SPC. That was five calibers ago.. On nights when I have trouble going to sleep I actually start to reload in my head. Works every time.

I started loading for the .44 just because it was so expensive to shoot..... that led to reduced loads, that lead to the .38 and .357.... then on to others. Try feeding a Weatherby factory fodder and you will really appreciate loading your own. It can be addictive. Started with a Lee....moved to a Dillon. Hopefully we will start seeing components on the shelf soon...

A 300 Weatherby Accuumark is what led me to reloading in 2006! Premium factory ammo cost had risen to $70 a box. I could reload as good or better ammo for $19 a box. The saving on that one caliber alone has long since paid for my equipment.

However,in the long run I am way in the hole! While learning to reload my passion for shooting has increased exponentially. In the past 6 years I have gone thru around 12k rounds of various rifle and 20k + of pistol.

Very cool! Been using a Rockchucker for around 20 years.

Don't wait too long to buy a chronograph. Wish I had done it much, much earlier.

Bearkat, wait till you buy your first Dillon. You will go wild and get that far away stare when you run out of stuff to load. I bought a Square Deal when they first come out (late 70s or early 80s) and still loading on it. I have a few more and as soon as rush is over I am sending back to Dillon for tune up. I would not guess how many rounds loaded but for years it ran 500 or more a week depending on how many matches I shot per weekend. Good luck and enjoy the addiction.
