I looked at one of these the other day and liked everything but the pricetag. I would like to hear from others that own one of these firearms. How do they shoot? I'm thinking about ordering one of the short actions. If I can get over the sticker shock.

The 85's are a better gun than the A7. A7 had a price drop and can be had for about the same price as a Tikka.
Sako barrels and Tikka barrels are from the same factory, supposedly same specs.
Sako's have always been a premium price for the premium gun they have been.

Sako had some barrels split/blow up years ago.

I have a 75 finnlight and it's an awesome rifle 1/2 moa gun with everything pretty much. The old man has an 85 finnlight and it's a good gun but a lot more picky on ammo. It's a sako they are hard to beat if the sticker price you can get past. Well made, accurate, and that finnlight is a sleek and sexy rifle kinda like the Megan Fox of rifles. I'd take one over a wby mk v. There is a reason you rarely find used ones.

Ive had 2 of them. One was a good shooter, the other was okay.

I have been looking for a short lite truck gun in 22-250, .243, 7-08, or .308. I like the Model 7 as I have had one before. In yalls opinion how does the Finnlight stack up against other similar rifles

I would take the Sako over the M7 if sticker shock was not a problem. One I should have never gotten rid of was a Sako Forester Handy Hunter Carbine in 22-250. That was a handy little rifle that would shoot.

Its a fine rifle. The two I have shot have significant recoil from being light.

The worst thing about them is the stock and the the way it looks.

I have an A7 .270 and it is by far my favorite rifle and I have a few. It shoots Hornady SSTs 130 grain in a quarter size group at 100 yds. The Finnlight is the most perfectly balanced and best shouldering rifle I have ever laid my hands on. The triggers are phenomenal. I have seen them priced from $1,670 to $1,350 brand new. The wood stocked Sakos go up from there but if you check Gunbroker frequently you can find a decent deal.

At one time I was contemplating a finnlight, but there was no way I was paying that much for a rifle with a plastic stock! That's was a deal breaker for me.

I kind of went through the same thing. When I bought my Kimber Montana 300WSM I was having a hard time deciding between the $1100 Kimber and the $1200 Sako FinnLite and I was comparing them both in hand. In the end the stock was a gamechanger in my decision. The stock on the Kimber is every bit as good as a McMillan vs the Sako plastic Tupperware stock. Not that you cant add a McMillan or other quality tock to the Sako just be a whole bunch more invested. They are sweet rifles though and notoriously accurate.

The A7 is a better buy for the simple fact that the Finnlites have gone up so much in price and they come with a cheap Tupperware stock. Most guns in the Finnlite price range come with some sort of fiberglass composite stock which supports the higher price tags, ie Kimber Montana's, NULA's, Win EW's, Rem Ti's, etc

love Sakos in general, especially the older ones
But I wasn't that happy with the 85 finnlight in 270 I had a few years back.

For similiar money I think the Nosler Trophy Grade is a better rifle
