Sure it's not a white tail?

A real hunter never returns empty handed. Spending time in the wilderness temporarily satifies the soul, but leaves us longing for more.

Other than the split G1 and the short brow tines, the rest looks like a white tail. Isn't unusual for a Mulie to have a drop tine, much less two?

Not unusual, just not common as can be said about Whitetail as well. Where I hunt we have about 35% Mule Deer and about 65% Whitetail. Have seen and harvested Mule Deer with drop tines and kickers. Most of the time the bucks I've seen with no forks on g-1s and shallow forked g-1's indicate a buck aged out on the decline unless we've had dry summers.

This ranch is approximately 65% mule deer and 35% whitetail. Simply jusding by the carcass size, teeth wear on bottom jaw, and location this was found on the ranch (little to no WT's in this particular area), I am lead to believe this must have been a Mulie. Could be one of the rare hybrids I guess.

Would be a bitter-sweet find to me. Sucks he is dead, but at least you found him and those genetics are out there somewhere. Unique rack for sure

The gentleman holding the skull already has TWO low fence double drops... I sware if he gets a third... well, honestly, I would be very proud of him, but extremely jealous as well! This will be our 20th season hunting together.
