Hey everyone, I'd like to start getting my 3 month old lab accustomed to the water. She took a flying leap a couple of weeks ago off the 2nd story deck into the lake and I'm afraid she's going to be hard to get back into the water. She seems to hate water at this point, so any tips would be great!

Get another dog around that will do water retrieves. Retrieve some "hup, hup" fun bumpers. 99% of the time that pup will eventually want in on the fun.

Don't make a thing of it. If you make a big deal out of the pup getting in the water, it will be a big deal.

Places where it slopes gentle in the water are a good place. Toss his favorite toy on dry land a few times, getting closer to the water, and eventually barely into it.

My dog snores.

This. It's all about bady steps with dog training, building blocks. You go too fast you mess up.

All previous posts are correct. Especially get another dog the pup likes to play with and start throwing bumpers for the other dog in very shallow water.

Put your waders on and make him/her want to follow you.

Every dog I've seen learn to swim seemed to figure it out from other dogs. And it also took awhile for some reason it seems pups at a young age just don't like to swim. I'm sure that's not true with all dogs but if they don't like the water now don't think it means they aren't going to be a water dog later.
my dog now didn't start swimming until he was about 9 months now you can't keep him out of the water. Wait until this summer and I bet your dog will jump right in.
