I am CTD picking up targets only. Here is a list of items I've seen...

Magpul 30 rounders-$89.97
Steel 30 round Ar mags-$49.97
PMC FMJ 9mm-$31.97 per box
American Eagle 55 grain 223-$29.97 per box
PMC .380-$29.97 per box

Awesome deals to be found here folks!

I just saw a guy put probably 20 boxes of the 223 in his shopping cart and hes looking at other ammo now

Cabelas had the same 9mm ammo in stock about two weeks ago (last time I was there) and it was priced at $15.99 per box with a 10 box limit.

I'm still here. I've got nothing other to do today. It's actually been pretty entertaining watching these guys buying all this stuff at crazy prices.

Has CDT changed their name on the store to SCTG (slightly cheaper than gold) as someone mentioned last week as a new name suggestion?

To each their own I guess. I've found, without even trying to hard, much better ammo deals online.

Betchya dollars to donuts that some the folks buying at CTD prolly don't even own a firearm in the particular caliber they're purchasing.

I don't understand why people continue to purchase at these prices. Apparently the panic is lasting longer than I thought it would.

People that are too stupid or ignorant to look around. I stopped at a place today with full stocked ammo shelves and boxes of new 223 pmags for $30 each. I didn't buy anything because i don't need anything. If some folks would do a little more looking and a lot less whining, they'd find what they need. Wait a minute! Am I whining about their whining? If so...never mind. grin

As I was checking out, I saw a guy behind me with one of the small carry shopping baskets. I saw he about 10 boxes of 223, 10 boxes of .40 and what appeared to be about 10 boxes of .380.

I tallied that up in my head and came to about $1000 with tax. Wow! I can't believe some people would buy 30 plus boxes of ammo from there at their current rates.

Ha!

It's honestly the first time I've been in there in over a year. But, it was packed with others loading their baskets.

Btw, they haven't raised the rates on targets. I paid $31 after tax for 30 targets. I guess they weren't tactical enough or they would have triple that price.

I MIGHT go back into CTD if they had Kate Upton do an appearance in a Bikini and handing out Carl's Junior Burgers...ok, I would go back there for that..nothing else though.

Even then it would be for the eye candy and burger, I still wouldn't buy anything from them if they were the last retailer left on earth.

These guys better enjoy whatever cash they are getting at the moment. I am betting there will be some warehouse space with excellent highway facing signage available in north Ft. Worth in a few months. Useless sacks of....

Maybe, but I still believe there are too many casual (i.e. uninformed) firearm 'enthusiasts' out there that will continue to keep CTD in business..

You don't have to sell as many pmags as Brownells does to stay profitable when your getting $100/pop for them..

^^^^

That's kind of what I was thinking today. It was fairly packed in there and I posted just two of the guys paying crazy prices for several boxes of ammo.

Even if the ones who know what to look for and what to pay for stay away, they are still going to be pretty profitable from the ones who don't.

Selling one Magpul at $100 is about the same as selling 3 for $30 and I think that's what they are counting on.

I fully agree that the sheep will line CTDs pockets for now, but once this all blows over and the folks paying 3-4x decide to pawn their new AR for the next xbox or iWidget and wally world has ammo again, how many peeps do you think will be buying from them?

And if this does not blow over then we will all have bigger issues than CTD pricing.

^^^^^ I don't think it will ever come back down to even close to what we were used to paying. It will come back down but I'm afraid we will have a "new normal" on a lot of products.

I fear this too, but it depends a lot on if the prices are artificially high, or if supply is just not there. If the prices are artificially high then somebody will start Cheaper Than CTD with lower prices and as warehouses fill those prices will fall with competition for sales. If supply never catches up with demand then I won't worry about prices as my new hobby will be watching a stock ticker. grin

The fact I don't agree with taking advantage of a situation for profit does not make me a socialist nor does it imply I need or want an Obamaphone to call a group of liars and crooks in Washington to help me solve a problem I am perfectly capable of solving. I don't shop there and encourage those others to not support the business. The American system allows them to conduct business in this manner and it also allows me to not like it and be vocal about it. The American system is not strictly supply and demand, it still depends to some degree on customer choice and loyalty. I'm glad there are fools like yourself willing to support a bad business model because crooks need jobs too. In fact, I may even thank you and those like you for keeping these crooks from the streets where they might become true criminals. CTD sucks and that would be my opinion of those that support that business model. I am an American and I have the right to feel that way and express it to you. Thank you for being an American.
