I should add that I'm not too rich, not too thin and I don't have too much ammo!

I once read that, in places that have deteriorated to a barter economy, the 2 most valuable things to have were ammo and booze. I have no idea whether that is true but it kinda makes sense. They seldom go bad or deteriorate.

Our government, like most others, has borrowed so much $ that inflation is inevitable. The prices on everything will increase but the disposable part of your salary will not keep up. When this craziness ends, it might make sense to stock up. It all depends on your priorities regarding disposable $.

Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

I don't think I'd be trading ammo, it's something that can be used against me to get the rest of my trade items.

I'll stick with the booze.

For me the issue is always having enough of ALL components to make ammo. I only ever have as much ammunition as I do my lowest quantity components. Right now I have about 1000 45 brass, 250 loaded, 100 bullets, 300 large pistol primers and a pound of unique. Out of all that, I can only make 350 rds. of 45. I buy what I can, when I can, but stockin up doesn't do me much good unless I have enough of everything. I little different take on the original question, but it's the way I look at it.

I am currently making plans for a still that will be used not for drinking alchohol, but for fuel..... found most everything I need in a high dollar water heater and a air conditioner with stainless steel coils. I want to learn how to make fuel grade alchohol from either wood or other bio mass.

I actually don't need that much. I like to develop a hunting round and accuracy round in each caliber. Sometimes they are the same round. Then I just like to cook up 40 rounds for each rifle every few months and see how accurate I can be, and make sure things are still zeroed. Then there's hunting season, that's maybe 2 rounds. If I went hog hunting, I'd need to cook up a hundred or so.

On the handguns, I use glocks and they all shoot about the same. I can practice with 120 rounds a year of cheap stuff, and keep a couple of boxes of off the shelf defense ammo for each but never use it (knock on wood).

22lr is fun to plink, I hope it always stays available because I would feel foolish stocking up enough for life. The amount could go overboard pretty quick. If I had to, I could keep it down to a brick a year in lean times.

Things would be a lot different if I lived out where I could shoot off my back porch. I'd need a lot mo ammo!

Just one more round.

Never enough I stockpiled 223 when it was $5.99 Remington umc 55gr fmj, could get a lot for it now but I would have to replace it eventually. Wish I had a lot of 270 7 mag and my other high powers that were too expensive back then

I have made it a practice to grab a box of something above every time I go to Wal-Mart or Academy, and it adds up, so I haven't had to worry about the current situation.

well 22 lr isn't re loadable so through the years I have always bought 22lr when on sale, so I have several 10's of thousands rounds. the same with shot shells I don't reload them so I buy em. so all those time I had to endure my wife's fussing at me for buying more shell has payed off. I guess?
