Anyone know what the best brand for this rifle is? It's my first deer rifle and I'm new to hunting so I wanted to get some advice from you seasoned hunters.

Welcome Cevin ! There really isn't a single brand of ammo that will work best in a particular manufacture of rifle. You may have to try several brands (boxes ) and determine which one groups best in your specific rifle in order to get your answer. This is a great site to ask questions, a lot of the people who post have many years of experience and are very willing to help.

I have found that Remington Core Lokts 150gr work well in most of the rifles I have shot. Start there and I think you will have good success.

It also likes Sierra 150 SPT's in my handload (52gr 4064 & CCI primers). Disclaimer - Don't start loading here - work up to it & watch pressure! Almost forgot -

Go with the 150 core-lokts I don't think they will let you down... I've always had good consistent accuracy with em and the price is hard to beat.

Remington Core Lokt and Federal blue box are going to be your economical loads. For deer and pigs they should work fine in th 30-06 as long as they are accurate in your gun. It you want to step up a notch in quality then look at Hornady. Not only do they offer some premium bullets but they are also pretty reasonable in price.

I've shot these out of a Winchester as well with good success. dead on at 50 yards, 2" high at 100 yards, and dead on about 175. Never had a problem with this ammo. Brother-in-law shoots the same in an A-Bolt with similar success.

Welcome to the site. My daughter has an A-Bolt in 25-06 and it loves Hornady custom.

I have tested 20 different bullets in my two 30-06's. I am a huge fan of the Barnes TTSX now and use in all my calibers after the 30-06 tests. I think it is the best factory round across my range of rifles.

Part of the fun of getting a new rifle is figuring out what she likes. It's true that the Remington Core-lokts and Federal "blue box" is a great place to start. Welcome and have fun with your new gun!

Like the other guys, I've had very good results with Remington CoreLokt 150s for whitetails and hogs. I also occasionally shoot 180s in my 30-06 but consider them a little too heavy for typical Texas deer.

Thanks everyone for the input. I think I'm going to start with the Federal Premium 150g and see how it goes from there.

Mike Hanback swears by Remington Core Lokt. Come to think of it, he is sponsored by Remington. Seriously, I read somewhere a few years back that Remington Core Lokt is the most purchased/shot ammo out there, probably since it's one of the cheapest too..
I've used it and have had no issues; also like Hornady SuperPerformance SST. Hot round...
