Any place that wont let me get out of the freezing weather. The older I get the more I hate being cold!! Other than that, I can adapt to most terrains.

All ready

Devils River State Natural Area. Rocks, rocks & more rocks and the not a flat spot to stand in. Did I mention rocks?

I hear its rocky out that way

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Deep woods are tough to hunt, very peaceful though. They're probably my least favorite. West Texas canyon country is my favorite.

I hate rocky terrain. Hard to be sneaky when rocks roll down hills and your cursing up a storm after rolling an ankle.

We interrupt this marriage for hunting season.

My favorite is watching lots of country from hilly terrain or elevated blinds. I've hunted west Texas all my life and have become accustomed to watching large area's even though many times game animals are to far away to attempt a shot. I've never hunted east Texas forest but some of the pics I've seen give this open country redneck the Hebe jebbies. eek

You need to come up and go for a stroll through a nice 3-4yo clear cut that wasn't rowed and burned...

You need to come down and go thru a white brush bottom for a stroll or a blackbrush ridge or flat.
But you would like the long shot you can get on some roads or easements. Corn as far as you can see or shoot. Get you a blind tall enough to see down in to the open pockets. Set up a tripod on a pear flat in the rut. Keep you spinning in circles. Not all of all of it is thick just like all of East Texas is not thick.

Trees yes. Depends on the location as to how tall or short they are. Rain forest no. Trees shade the ground out so nothing can grow. Your just skeered of snakes and thorns grin

Those lil shrub oaks don't count. I WISH we had no snakes and thorns.

You're still caught up in west Texas with scrub oaks. No scrub oaks in south Texas till you get along the coast areas. Take your rainfall down to 20" yr average or so for 50 yrs and see how your tall trees and terrain changes.

I just love to hunt. Have preferences for sure but whether it's grackles in the back yard or elk in the Rockies I love to hunt.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.

I don't really care for far West Texas, i.e. Sanderson.

I love the terrain, just don't like hunting places with 1 deer per 1000 acres.
