So far heres what my 2013 season is going to look like, hopefully. Driving back to Texas in April to drop off my female britt at my trainer to get her tuned up for her first season!

Im going to start the season in September with Blue Grouse and Ptarmigan (maybe some sage boomers too). My goal is to bag one Ptarmigan...hell I'd be happy to see one. In november Im going to be road tripping it to Idaho and Nevada for two weeks for huns and chukars. Gypsy style living out of my pickup. The rest of the season will be chasing pheasants and huns up north.

Oh and all summer Im going to be shooting clays, my wingshooting was TERRIBLE and Im committed to improving my shooting before hunting season.

So what are YOUR plans????

My vizsla will be going to the trainer in June for 2 or 3 months to get ready for his first season as well. He will be 10 months old on Sept 4.

I am still in the planning stage but right now I'd like to hit the Big Bend area for quail and take a trip up north to Oregon or Montana. Nevada would be cool. I doubt he'll be ready until the 2014 year for ducks but I might try that out this year as well.

Also, going to run him in some NAVHDA NA tests and hopefully get his JH sometime late 2013 early 2014.

Hunt as often as I can...

With four kids ages 11 months to 7 years, I go when I can.

Trying to firm up plans for a grouse hunt up north in late Sept; and line up a hunt for a giant canada goose sometime after that.

One thing for certain, I'm planning to do all of my southern woodcock hunting in Louisiana next season. (I've said this before however, every year.)

Next year, I had to break it up and work around some dog show/hunt test stuff for Dash. All tentative as those of you that know me, I almost never follow a plan.

A week in November of mostly quail hunting in the KS Flint Hills, December of mostly Pheasant on private land in the Oklahoma Panhandle followed by Goose hunting in Oklahoma on the same trip. After Christmas I hope to do a trip of several days in Southern Louisiana hunting waterfowl, snipe, and woodcock.

Blaze due to her blindness would be retired other than small field and pond retrieving locally, and not make those trips.

Buuuuut... We took blaze to an opthamologist today for an initial eye exam and she may be a candidate for surgery. More testing coming up as soon. If she is a candidate, everything goes well, and she can see again, she would be back doing everything that Blaze does. Which could completely change my hunting plans for next year if she is recovered and safe to go. How wonderful it would be if she could see, run, and hunt again. Extremely expensive and I will be selling some things to fund it, but the wife and I feel she has earned it.

I really wanted to do a three week Idaho or other area state trip next year, but I will probably have to put that one off until season after next.

If my Blaze can get her sight back, has recovered, and I can recover from the funding of it, we should talk. I was going to wait for my Dash to get more experience before doing the north western state trip, but I might want to bump it back up to next season and take both my dogs while Blaze is still young enough to handle it. Two trucks traveling together might be something to consider for safety and support even if it only part of the trip or if we are doing are own thing some of the time. I am usually a loner for the bulk of my road trips, but I have often looked at the road ahead and thought it would have been smart if I had paired with another vehicle or two. If something like what happened to me in May had happened to me at the location below, which was out of cell phone range, I would not be alive today.

Im all for it. And honestly I have one Brittany thats got one season of wild birds under his belt (huns that werent holding worth a darn) and some pen raised birds. Then I have a 5month old who will be put on birds this april.

Personally I dont worry about the lack of experience when it comes to my dogs. The only way they are going to learn is by hunting wild birds.....

Im located in Cheyenne Wyoming. If you want to try and plan something let me know (just pm me). Even if its just roadtripping to an area and splitting up for hunting.

I have an idea of where I might go in NV, as far as ID goes I just have a general area.

Hunt around home for bobwhites throughout the season. Hopefully get a sublease or lateseason (where they wont shoot does/spikes) lease where there are blues and bobwhites. Really want to duck hunt the Laguna Madre a few times. And take a Kansas trip for the first time.

Hopefully we'll go back to Nebraska again, there was an unbelievable amount of pheasant up there this season. Spooky as hell, but they were there. We're also going to try out public in TX this year.

Jan. 2014 Black Gap for blues, my annual December hunt in the Panhandle for pheasant, and possibly try to squeeze in a November Eastern Colorado pheasant/quail hunt.

With the warm weather we've had, we have allready been catching some great fish - even in shallow water. That will be our focus now through August. Yee Haw.

Next September, we will return to our new dove lease out West and the invitational event near Waco.
We're hoping the ditch chickens will rebound in the Panhandle (allready heard good things) and then there's a trip or two to Kansas.
Quail......well, there's only a few here and there. Other than that it will be released birds for the entertainment of the dogs and some fellowship.

Now where is that stickbait I need.......
