I bought a Glock 19 in 1989 when they first hit the street and have owned many different models since then. I just picked up a 19C and and am carrying it now. I'm a Glock person , but I do have many other carry weapons depending on the situation. IMO

Hey I've got a 1911 Colt Gov. Model but I prefer the 15 rounds in the Glock vice the 7 in the 1911. Got to admit its hard to deny the 230 grain 45 bullet for knock down .

Only reason you guys are picking the G19 is because you can't hit what your aiming at. Shane So what happens if more than 7 on target(s) shots are necessary? I'll take the 19.

The 19 for sure. I would take 15+1 rnds of 9mm over 7 rnds of 45 any day. With modern ammo the 45 does not have much of an advantage over the 9mm. And unless you are hitting the spine, or brain, you aint gonna knock them down quickly.
Also one has to consider that they are probably going to be missing more than they are hitting in an extremely heated situation (while you are seconds away from possible death, pumping with adrenaline, and blasting away). I would rather get 1 or 2 hits with a 9mm than none with a 45.

If not, it has the same chance as a 45acp that went errant stopping a fight...... If a person cannot comfortably control a 45acp then get a 9mm and practice. Make'em all count. I have owned and carried most calibers used in LEO work including a S&W 25-5, 45LC. I was accused by a perp face down on the ground of carrying a 12ga pistol. He looked up twice and then face down, shook his head and started to cry. As he was being cuffed and stuffed he asked the assisting officers when did we start carrying 12ga pistols! He was told it was just me and not forget it! ANyway, 9mm can and will do the intended job needed done.

Btw, statistics show in a self defense scenario no more than 3 rounds are fired in less than a 5' scenario. Then again,..with all of the zombies running around..... Shane

if i had to choose between a Glock 19 or a 36...i'd choose the 36..if it was between a Glock 32 and a 36...i would choose the 32...i don't like 9 mm's and i owned several pistols in that caliber to prove that point to myself....think of it this way, if you had a ticked off boar about 200# charging at your legs REAL close , which caliber would stop that pig the fastest?....my guess it would be a 45.

Shane I saw footage from security cameras that the homeowner had set up around his house. I recall 3 attackers(maybe even a 4th) all with guns get out of the vehicle. Quit being ignorant.

Ok so after shooting both I have decided to keep carrying the G36.
I am super accurate with the G19, very fast follow up shots on target. But I am good with the G36 too though, and when push comes to shove I think I would rather use the most effective of the two if my life was on the line.

I'd carry a .45 over a 9 mm any day, but I think a .40 is perfectly adequate.

Caliber is irrelevant if the shots are put where they are needed. gbeard is spot on. There will always be people that carry a .45 because they don't make a .46 If a gun has less muzzle flip, therefore allows for faster follow up shots (if needed), and has a higher ammo capacity, why would you not carry it ? Cheat any way you can !! I have seen people that couldn't control a 1911 .45 to save their lives. Give them a Glock 9mm and they can burn the house down. On the other hand, I have seen people run a 1911 like nobody's business. If you can shoot it then get after it, if you can't, get a caliber that you can handle and practice, practice, practice.

G19, I carry it every day. I used to carry my .45 Kimber or Springfield. I've decided I would rather have more rounds just in case.

I've always been a big Glock fan but recently switched to a Springfield XDm 3.8 compact in 45ACP. 9+1 rounds in the flush fitting mag and the reload holds 13. This gun conceals better than my G23 did too. Anyways just wanted to add my .02 worth you might should give one of them a look.

G19
You see all of the internet commandos with their .45 meme's obviously dont do a ton of reading. If we were really to believe "bigger" is better, why not just carry a .50ae? Or .44mag?
Further more, why not carry a G29? 10mm will deliever more energy than a .45acp.
When it comes to pistols, the fact is they are a defensive weapon. NEVER count on the first, second, or third round ending the fight. Continue the fight until the threat is gone. You can do that more easily with the G19 (mag capacity and controllability).
Everyone in Law Enforcement has seen the dashboard vid of a Trooper (i believe in GA or SC) who shot a dirtbag 5 times (3 in the chest) with a .357mag. The troop was hit ONCE with a .22lr......guess who lived? The dirtbag.
Again, Pistol rounds are never guaranteed to be effective, even with combat effective shot placement. They just dont carry the energy that rifle cartridges do...
I'll take magazine capacity over some bubba's wet dream any day.
