I know this is not the classifieds but I would really like to start taking some pictures and would like a good starter and easy to use camera. I have seen a few on here in the pass few months and was wondering if anyone has one they are willing to sell or keep your eyes open for a good deal. Everyone said cannon or nikon. Any thoughts?

I use a Canon EOS Rebel that I bought maybe 5 years ago. The lens I use the most is a 75 to 300 zoom. Great pictures and it's an easy camera to learn to use. I take pictures of the local HS tennis team (that I volunteer to help teach) and when I get tired of taking pics I just hand the camera over to whichever kid wants to be the junior assistant camera operator that day. Their pictures are pretty much as good as mine.

My advice if you are limited on fund is to spend your money on the lens instead of the camera body. The lens and your eye is what takes a good picture. The body just captures that image. Many people spend a ton on the body and then buy the cheapest lens they can. That's backwards. A good lens will take a better picture on a cheap body any day over a cheap lens on a nice body. If you have the money then buy both good. But I would make the lens your priority.
That being said. My preference is for canon products. Their lenses are phenomenal for wildlife photography. Nikon is good too though. Can't go wrong either way.

I just got a Canon EOS Rebel T4i with a wide angle zoom and a telephoto zoom for $900. If you don't want to fool with the changeable lenses on a DSLR then I'd go with a super-zoom camera. Good ones from Canon, Nikon and Lumix can be had for less than $500. Just pick one with the greatest mega-pixels and the greatest optical zoom.
Before buying my EOS I tried a Canon SX500IS. Great super-zoom with image stabilization, easy to learn and use, with one heck of a zoom lens. It has 18MP and 50x optical zoom. It took really nice pics but manual focus was a real pain in the butt. That was ultimately the reason that I sent it back and upgraded to the EOS.
B&H Photo and most others rate the Lumix super-zoom very high. My brother has one and it takes some amazing pics for a "point & shoot".
Understand that if you choose to go with a DSLR you'll also have to budget for lenses, which are often more expensive than the camera.

Lenses are more than most cameras. The telephoto for my D40 runs about $700 for a run of the mill lens.

I would go to a good camera shop and ask them for their advice based on what you are wanting to do with the camera/lenses. They can put cameras and lenses in your hands to look thru.

I've been looking for a good super telephoto (400+mm) for my camera. The best lens for the least amount of money is a Sigma 150mm-500mm at $1020.00. It's got image stabilization (IS) but only a f/5.6-6.3...not a good low light lens.
Canon has a 100-400mm f/4 IS lens for around $1400. Canon's 70-300 f/4"L" is about $1600. They just go up in price from here. I think Canon's 800mm is about $14,000.

I just received a Nikon J1 for my birthday. It is a digital camera that has lenses to change out based on the focus length you want. Mine has a 10-30mm optical zoom and is the size of a normal digital camera. Think it runs about $500.
Korea is nothing like Germany, and no amount of Army Modernization propaganda will convince me otherwise. I miss my wife and kids something fierce
