I'm hunting a heavily wooded area south of Jasper and planning on building a very similar trap to the one in the link below using T-posts, trees between 6 - 8" in diameter along with 4' tall chain link fence and wanted to know your guy's opinions?

Thanks in advance

What causes the ends to "mesh together" exactly? I suggest putting a video camera on your trap at first to learn how they are responding to it.

They work good if you build exactly like they show and tie it of with wire really well especially paying attention to the bottom but you will catch all kinds of critters in it so that is a problem if you don't check it regularly

Instead of using the opening as seen in this diagram I may attach a cattle panel on the end making the opening wider using either a large stick or something to keep it open until I'm at the lease and able to check it?

Do the trapped animals end up pushing the ends together? They are not spring loaded.

Hmmmm...

saloon door head gate would work good on that.

Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

Here is another variation of a trap made of panels.

wexford is a good design, i am found of the 6or 9 corral style... setting one up in the morning. pre bait for a week and hope to catch one of these sonders of 10 or more

Isn't it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back everything is different.

Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing.

I need to know if my current corral trap will hold pigs. I have four standard 50" cattle panels overlapped by one square each and tied double with bailing wire and I have t-posts every 4ft (also wired thoroughly). I wired some chainlink on inside of panel walls (only covered half of trap) and 36" 14 gauge welded wire around other half to keep piglets in. Also my door is 4ft wide by 4 tall made out of 1 1/2" angle, 2" flat strip, and expanded metal..the frame is made of angle iron as well wired solid with two t-posts. I finished it yesterday and have it baited until I start seeing a lot of tracks inside and a lot of pics on my game camera. Here is my problem. I have 4 more panels wired to the top of the other panels to make a 50" lip around the edge of the trap to keep pigs from climbing out. To keep the "lip" panels from swaying downward into the trap I have sturdy galvanized chain link fence top rail posts stretching across in four sections underneath the lip panels and wired securely. But the lip panels don't create a roof so will pigs jump from the center of trap ontop of the lip or will they only be jumping around the edges of trap? Do I need to get more panels to create a top or do I need to take lip off and wire the 4 panels to trap sides to create a 7' tall corral trap? My corral is in shape of tear drop 25' long x 13-ish widest point
