I'll be getting one of these rifles soon in partial trade for a job I'm doing. It's synthetic stocked, blued, and has a Nikon Monarch 6-18x50. The rifle looks as if it has never been shot, so I feel pretty good about the value of my trade. However, I have ZERO experience with Browning rifles and nobody I know has fired or even seen an X-Bolt.

What do you think-trade bait or a keeper?

Awesome! I do wish I could fiddle with it a little more, like paint the stock or something cool, but hey, if it's good to go then why complain! This one is .300 Winmag so I definitely have a use for it. Mainly I just didn't want to spend any effort on it if they're known to have problems. I'm so used to my Remingtons and Rugers that I originally planned to trade it for one of those and not even get it dirty!

my brother runs one in 25-06
I have shot it as well
Good solid gun

I personally didn't like the cheek weld.
The top of the stock hit me in the cheek, not from recoil, just the ergonomics didn't work for me.
I like more of a monte carlo style

But, that's just me, so, check one for fit first

I have one blue/synthetic in .223 and really like it. Great shooter with a smooth action. The magazines are nice too allowing for straight feed into the chamber. I believe it is one of the better guns I've purchased.

My brother owns that gun in the .338 WM. I do load development for it and it DOES shoot.

A blued/synthetic bolt gun in .300 Win Mag would make an almost-perfect Rocky Mnt big game rifle. That XBolt is a good choice, but I'd definitely 86 the big scope and go with something like a Conquest 3x9x40 or Grand Slam 3x10x40 or a Leupy 2.5x8x36.
