Is it better to have a feeder/feeder pen within a food plot or feeder pen adjacent to plot?

Have most of my feeder pens inside my food plots and have tons of deer show up.

I would prefer it outside the plot on the edge. I like to fence my plots to get them growing and established though. Also so much activity in and out of the pen would tromp down a lot of the growth at times. Deer will show up to eat in the plot or at the feeder no matter where you put them though. Also if you play the wind you can have the plot or the feeder to hunt with different winds.

Although with the drought the last few years the food plots haven't done well where I hunt.

I'd put the feeder/pen on the edge of the plot

I have several plots and several feeders on my place. We tried putting a feeder next to one of our plots and it was probably the most visited area on the place.
