I am new to hunting and thought it would be interesting to hear what everyone carries with them out on their hunts everytime. What goes in your bag no matter what? Flashlight? Knife? Handgun? Binocs?

I always wear a harness if I hunt from a treestand. I will use a headband flashlight (cheap one from Walmart) to get to the stand.

Rifle or bow. Backpack with: Kleenexs, binos, knife, a audobon book to identify unusual birds, limb trimmer, grunt call, rattling thing, wallet with license and ties to attach license to the deer. I try to remember to bring a bottle of water, but I usually forget it.

Did not think of the book to identify birds. Good idea. Everything else sounds pretty standard.

What is the rattling thing?

Rifle, ammo, binoculars, flashlight, water, couple sandwiches, snacks, cell phone, and crossword puzzles & pencil. I am usually in the blind by 0500, 5:15 at the latest, and generally stay until 11 or 12, unless the deer are moving, then I will be there later....I always have at least one knife on me, as well as a pistol.

Always: Rifle, binocs, flashlight, rangefinder, knife, ammo, grunt call, compass, flagging tape, and ziplock with TP,lens wipes, pen, zip ties, spare batteries, etc. in it.

Sometimes I add bug dope, rattlebag, shooting sticks, water, snacks, predator call, an extra flashlight, and other stuff.

Problem is, the added stuff ends up staying and the pack gets heavy pretty quickly. smile

Rifle with ammo, binos/rangefinder, flashlight, license and rattling horns/grunt call. Sometimes I will take my camera and lenses. Everything else stays in a clean kit pack in the Ranger or truck.

This, minus the rangefinder (unless bowhunting)and camera. Anything more is getting excessive. Obviously gloves on my hands when it's colder (55 degrees or less)...

It's a small bunch of plactic sticks bound together that sounds like rattling horns if you twist them around.

If im hunting by myself, most of the time I take my gun, which always has 3 in the belly and a pair of bino's.

If wife is coming along then add a flashlight to the list and probably a bottle of water and pack o crackers or something.

Find you some latex surgical type gloves for gutting, much easier easier to clean hands after field dressing. And AMMO, don't forget ammo!

I don't "field" dress any more. I bought a Jet Sled last year. I just roll the deer into the sled, attach it to my 4Runner and drag it in. I them hoist it up and gut in in the shop. Much easier to keep the meat clean.

I've always had ammo, but I did get out to the stand and noticed that the bolt was missing from my rifle. Rained the night before and I took it out to dry it - and neglected to put it back in.

I load the gun before walking to the blind, always want to be prepared for mr porky! Pluss it is cheap insurance to assure you have all the componets you need and it only takes a second to unload before climbing in blind and loading again. However if it takes me several hunts to bag my first critter of the year that bullet on top in the clip starts to show signs of wear from beeing loaded and unloaded again and again etc.

Nah, the last thing I want is dealing with having to tote off a bucket full of bloated guts. I will leave them in the field where the critters can have them. I have never had a problem with "dirty" meat, how exactly do you get dirt in the meat of an animal that still has the hide on it? The only thing exposed would be the tenders and unless you pick up a handful of dirt and throw it in there, how does it get there?
