I agree I believe owning guns is vital to the well being and safety and security of our country. However I don't want some tactifool shooting me because someone didn't know how to hit their target, and look behind it to see what they might hit.

Open carry is waaaaaaay over rated. Its legal here and I've seen maybe three people openly carrying.

But its also legal here to CC without a license. I havent been suprised with one yet on a pat down but you never know who is packing.

I CC for multiple reasons and would never open carry.

I probably never would open carry, but that right should not be suppressed.

Once you start putting ANY type of stipulations on things like this, you are no better than the gun grabbers.

definitely do not like the idea of open carry. I don't carry to show off, it is to protect myself not have some jack hole trying to jack with me cause it has to be worn openly.

It don't have to be worn open, you can still conceal carry

Then don't open carry. Your choice.

Youd be suprised the results open carry has. In interior Alaska it is legal to carry open and also to CC. You see guys with guns on thier hips around town a lot and personally it didnt phase me one bit, makes it pretty clear that if you phuck up....your gonna get shot by someone. I didnt carry but always had some sort of firearm in the vehicle. Home invasions are nearly non existent and most violent crime is between two people who know or are related to each other. It tells you something about the safety of an armed society!

Depends on where I am as to what I do. In public I will "mostly" conceal. But its awful hard to conceal a 5" 1911 in the summer. Untuck my shirt, call it good. Under todays laws I would be printing. When the law changes, I'm good to go.

This was my thought, in suit pants it's sometimes hard not print this would eliminate those concerns even though cc was my goal.

I like the idea of being able to open carry as well as concealed so I don't have to be hyper sensitive in how I dress for concealment. It sure was nice to wear an untucked tee shirt while wearing a full size pistol.

I agree, my biggest concern about CC is if I accidentally print or show my weapon....

The only problem with open carry is weapon retention. What's to keep the bad guys from simply walking up behind you and jerking your smoke wagon out of your flimsy piece of kydex? I'm a life long NRA member and love the 2nd amendment but guns need to stay concealed unless you are properly trained to hang onto it during battle. My $.02

Blackhawk Serpa.

Not too many people know exactly how to use them. Plus they also have a resistant retention.

With your rational.....whats to keep ANYONE from grabbing a LEO's gun?

It happens I know,...but not much differance.

I just don't want any tdh walking around heeled. I like the concealment factor of the bad guy not knowing. If open carry comes to Texas, it should require a lot more than a one day course and the license should be $.

Yeah, without training, the open carry scares me more than the 586,000 CHL holders in Texas of which only 2000 have ever done any formal training. Means my neighbor who is just a few layers of drywall away from my kids can have her .357 magnum and not know a damn thing what to do with it.
I'm all for no restrictions and open or concealed, whatever your choice is, but I agree with qualification or training.

I live in a open carry state. Not too many people do it here. There are a few. There is no training. Heck even NON-residents can open carry here. No problems at all.

Like someone said earlier,..when the CHL law passed in Texas all the Nay sayers said ..it will be mass shootings in the streets.... everywhere..like the "wild west" rofl

Well,...wrong! Open carry will be the same way.

Shane

Just because there is no "mass shootings in the streets" doesn't mean that the people who are choosing to either conceal or open carry know the first thing about what to do with that pistol if they had to pull it.

Makes me think of Tombstone: "SKIN THAT SMOKE WAGON AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS! YOU GOING TO DO SOMETHING OR JUST STAND THERE AND BLEED?!" Most people wouldn't draw anyway, but the ones that did but weren't trained are going to get themselves killed or worse, kill someone they don't mean to.
