they have been tearing up Dads pretty bad here latley,... cant hunt 24/7 so I set a bunch of snares out.... 3 of them have been broken!! mad

So I built a better trap so to speak, I got a tree about as big around as a beer can at the base, stripped all the limbs off of it and cut it off about 15' tall, bent it down and put a trip wire system, tying the top end down with 2 snares laying flat on the ground underneath... poured corn and waited... I figured the upwards pull of the tree along with the flexiblity of the tree, they 1. couldnt get as much traction, and 2. it would spring around and not break.. I was right!! took about 2 weeks but SCORE!!! banana banana

Dad is 5'10 and about 200 for reference

The canopy became his shroud; he hurtled to the ground. And he ain't gonna jump no more. Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die, he ain't gonna jump no more!

Nice hog!

To keep them from breaking snares we always tied them to something they could drag... but not very far, and make sure to use a swivel.

Examples of things we tied them too were mostly large tree stumps/root balls that were dozed, tree trunks that had been cut down, they would drage them about 10 yards or so in a night.

+1 You don't want to tie to something they can really put leverage on.

Nice hog!
