I'm very close to choosing my 1st shotgun - and this gun (S&W 1012) looks like it is the 1 I'm going to go with.

My requirements are: semi-auto or O/U, 3" shell, 26-28" barrel, and changable chokes.

I had just about decided I was buying the Mossberg "Silver Reserve" O/U shotgun when I saw this S&W 1012 come up.

Both are in my price range, and while I still think the Mossberg O/U is a better looking gun - I am leaning towards the S&W because I think it will fit my needs better and be a more durable gun.

Please help me decide!

I like semi auto for less kick and more shots before reloading. My main shotgun in a .12 ga browning Gold Hunter. That SW looks decent for the money.. I have been thinking of a reasonable semi auto .20 and mossberg, Weatherby and now this SW are all under $500. I hate to buy when they first come out because problems are not always found yet.
