What's your thought about this? I'm planning on doing some turkey and deer hunting on public land, and was just curious if I could throw some cameras out there. I I know I will need to lock them down so no one steals them, but thinking about leaving for a week or 2 and see if anything is around.

I wouldn't do it. Someone will probably mess with / steal them. JMO. If you do it, just be aware of that. Unfortunate, but true.
Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it. Don't text and drive.

I've seen them on public. Mooned every one of them.
If you are in a low traffic area you'll be ok. Just lock it up. And don't get upset if you have a butt or two on it.
Edit: the only reason I mooned them was because they were idiots and put them on a main trail 500 yards from the road.

If found by the Park Rangers or a GW it'll be confiscated, just like a feeder or blind would be. Sort of risky if you do this.

Ive hunted public land past few years I leave mine out for a few weeks at a time but I always walk in about 30 minutes from the parking areas so not to many people are walking through where I hunt. Needless to say I have never had any problems or gotten any pictures of people walking past them.

I would hang mine high in a tree and aim them down at the trail. Birdseye view. And of course lock it up.

I've used them. No-one ever messed with mine but I have seen notes on entry gates about people having theirs stolen.
